He simply has to take a wage cut. No team in Europe will pay him 360k a week

PSG will till the end of the season so the arithmetic he has to do is six months @ £360pw + a new contract with some team somewhere from July, or eighteen months @ who knows how much with a new club now.

Suarez cannot go on forever

he turns 34 a year and 3 days from now

and is increasingly injured (very badly atm)

Messi is perhaps showing age too (not ready to call that outright yet)

he is exactly 5 months younger than Suarez

he is having (for hm) a pretty meh year

All true but not sure if Barcelona will clear them out as straightforward as you might think, especially when Suarez and Messi are still contributing for them. Plus if they sign Neymar, then going after Werner might seem highly unlikely.

toss Real in that Werner mix too

Benzema is 33 in the first half of next season and Jovic has been a bust so far so they have basically shit for strikers if Benz goes down unless you think Mariano Díaz will explode out of nowhere, which is very doubtful as ZZ wants him gone, sold

Between Real and Barcelona, I see Real more of a possible destination for Werner but whether he is Real Madrid-crazy or fancies La Liga is another matter.

Also by injecting a 'start' or 'not start' angle into the debate, we are basically also admitting that Tammy is not good enough in the longer run (I am not saying he is is is not btw, that is another kettle of fish that no one knows as of now)

I suppose that scenario will be put to the test if we do sign Cavani or a striker this month.

it might be utter bullshit, but Spanish media are claiming Werner has signed a pre-contract to move to the dippers in the summer

I am NOT putting my reputation on the line with this at all, but it does synch up with what Bild has been reporting in terms of his preference for Klopp and the scouser scum

Since we've changed our style of play we've only made one bad signing (unfortunately getting harder to keep hope with Kepa) while Jorginho, Kovacic and Pulisic have all been good and even Higuain served a purpose. The former two have transformed us from the worst midfield in top half to probably the best save for City.

More solid windows like that and we're on the right track and early signs are good Lampard has a good judgement in transfers as the two big decisions he's had to make so far (retaining Kova and letting Luiz leave) have turned out to be masterstrokes.

I couldn't disagree more about our midfield!

Imho it's absolutely killing us, both defensively and offensively. Having 70% possession and making a 1001 passes in the middle of the pitch is meaningless.

Honestly, what the hell did Kovacic and Kante bring to the team tonight?  It's sad to see the once mighty Kante looking like a journeyman player these days.

It is true last two years Kante is useless, and different kind of a player would suit us more. I love that guy so much, but he should really look for a new club where they could use him in the right way. Kovacic is not a goal threat, he is there to have a better possession. RLC and Barkley are ours best two midfielders and i hope Ruben will be the same player as he was before injury. Regarding the transfers we should definitely buy a striker, cause Tammy is really not the one.

The best scenario would be if we bought a striker who could be a number 1 and just make Tammy a decent sub. That way Tammy would be unhappy with his playing time, and hopefully some Premier League club would buy him for 50 milion. What a job would that be.

no, he just will not renew and will walk on a free or a desperation cheapie sale in two years

which may happen anyway

and who is this magical monster striker?

Werner is not going to end up here

we are not going to buy Lautaro

better pray that Dembele is the second coming

or we all will be sweating like a whore in church

I'm inclined to agree. 18 month loan would be ideal.

I'd also pay the asking price for Isco.

Isco isnt moving until the summer, after EURO 2020, and zero chance we will pay £45-50m for an 18 month contract for a 33 year old striker (fee plus salary)

btw

it cannot be an 18 month LOAN, his contract ends in 5 months

So we're fucked basically.

not if we had a competent board

but I fear

yes, we may well be fucked right and proper (especially if Tammy is now injured for weeks)

the ONLY silver lining is how utterly, profoundly shit the rest of the EPL (other than Victimpool and Shitty and maybe maybe Leicester) is atm
