Just In: Liverpool agree personal terms with Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo

https://thedailybriefing.io/p/liverpool-agree-terms-antoine-semenyo-january-transfer

Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window.

That is according to the latest from Indy Kaila, who shared this exclusively with CaughtOffside.

The Reds have matched Manchester City’s offer, who too have agreed terms with the 25-year-old attacker.

The decision now comes down to the player’s preference.

According to Indy’s sources, Semenyo can leave Bournemouth for £65m, but that clause expires before the 10th of January and is no longer valid for the rest of the month.

There is another clause which makes him available for £5m less but that doesn’t become active until the summer transfer window.

It is not just Man City and Liverpool. Tottenham are also said to be ready to trigger his release clause and can financial match the terms offered by their Premier League rivals.

Semenyo leaning toward Liverpool

With potentially three to four clubs ready to pounce Semenyo, the ultimate decision would come down to the player himself.

It has been reported that the player prefers a move to Liverpool over other clubs.

As per Indy, the player is yet to make a decision on his preferred destination and will not rush into a decision.

If the Reds are willing to match the financial offer of others, there is no reason why they can not land Semenyo in January.

Salah’s future could play a massive role in his decision as well. As things stands, the club and Salah have had a falling out which could lead to the Egyptian star being sold to Saudi in the January transfer window.

This would give Semenyo an opportunity to slot straight into his position and make an immediate impact.

Which clubs he ends up choosing remains to be seen but one thing looks certain, Semenyo is not going to be at Bouremouth come January.

Indy Kaila…

Both City & Liverpool been heavily linked for probably a year now though.

Would be a great signing for either club. Given our track record, there is no chance we will enter the race given he is; 1) a very good player & 2) over 21 years old.

Shame because he would be a instant starter but we spunked £100m on Gittens & Garnacho.

Donnarumma's salary plus signing bonus demands were insane

It was always a no-go

Won’t compete or win trophies penny pinching though - been saying it for seasons now. Everyone at the club seems to think that we’re going to find top quality players we need aged 23 & under on moderately low wages. Guaranteed that’ll never happen.

Would paying his salary & bonus demands really have been that bad either? He’s reportedly on 250k per week, that isn’t outrageous for a player of his quality in this day & age. Given his pedigree on top of the fact he has been earning £10m+ a year for the best part of nearly 10 seasons since his Milan days - would anyone really have expected him to be asking for a small contract? Previous regime would’ve paid it no questions asked.

Regardless, even if we had offered, no player who has the chance to pick from us or City, is coming here at the moment - but we should’ve been pushing a deal given his availability, quality and playing position ticked all the boxes. Or a competent sporting department would’ve been.

Look how immense he was for PSG last season & plenty of big moments for City so far. Not to mention big international performances over the years. Would’ve been worth every penny & more.

Cucurella was 24 when we signed him from Brighton...

If we were that keen on Semenyo, we could have got him in the summer.

Somehow we don't get Kudus  (the player was keen but West Ham weren't keen on KDH as part of the deal) or Semenyo and we end up with the GG brothers. United get part of their Mount fee back.

nice nice

another kid. exactly what we need. I truly believe that we are in the right path and ready to win everything 😄

Don't worry, the club is planning for the LONG TERM

The Premier League won't be ready for Chelsea's all-star Football Manager lineup in 2030 when all the youngsters are 23 years old and ready to take the league by storm!  😆

and

I think Citeh get fuckall in terms of substantial punishment

a slap on the wrist

This club getting a transfer ban wouldn’t be the worst thing. Save us signing utter dross for a period.

Per Matt Law, NONE of the following sales would, if we sell any of them, help us to balance the UEFA books so we can play in Europe next season:

Sterling

Disasi

Nico Jackson

Aarón Anselmino

Kendry Páez

David Datro Fofana

Deivid Washington

Caleb Wiley

Omari Kellyman

Leo Castledine

Ted Curd

Teddy Sharman-Lowe

Mudryk the Drugryk

And none of the CL List B count either:

Josh Acheampong

Tyrique George

Romeo Lavia

The only sales that count are players on the CL List A.

So any incoming buys, if we are not transfer banned, will mean we have to sell core players (Tosin needs to go go go, but we are going to get fuckall for him, and we cannot sell Badi if we are transfered banned, as he is literally, with Colwill out, our only left-footed CB). IF Penders comes this summer, the we can sell Filip Jörgensen. Guiu also needs to go.

That's about it IF we are transfered banned, and even if NOT, we will will be damn lucky to get a total of £40-50m or so max for Tosin, Jörgo, and Guiu.

Good luck shopping on that total budget.

It is insane that UEFA limits the sales that count to only the CL List A. We still have to pay all the players listed who are not on it, unless a club loaning them pays them, AND we ourselves DID ALSO pay transfer fees for most of them.

It seems borderline illegal to not count any and all sales towards UEFA book balancing.
