Chelsea are prepared to pay a club-record transfer fee to Benfica in order to bring Enzo Fernandez to the Premier League next month. An offer of in excess of €127M has been proposed. Chelsea hope Fernandez will push for an immediate move.

They can have him

So who should we get for the left sided CB now? We need help now, did you watch KK struggle again, in the Bournemouth game?

these are the top left footer CBs remotely available as of now, or in the summer (or if he does have that release clause, Gvardiol in summer 2024)

no way some would be sold for a January move

Josko Gvardiol  (the best option BY FAR, but he very likely is not available until the summer, and IF he does have that release  clause for 2024, he likely wont leave in the this coming summer barring some insane 130m or so quid offer)
Alessandro Bastoni  (will never leave in summer if Skriniar does)
Pau Torres (I can hear the howls now if we drop big cash on him)
Benoît Badiashile
Aymeric Laporte (is too old for the money Citeh will demand, and his pace seems to have went too much, not that he was ever a speed burner)
Evan Ndicka (my choice, and he is free in the summer, so a toekn bid for January would work)
Nathan Aké  (really?, again?)
Piero Hincapié
Gonçalo Inácio

drop off

Castello Lukeba (was 19yo until 10 days ago)

drop off

Strahinja Pavlovic
Max Kilman
Alessio Romagnoli (that ship has sailed)
Iñigo Martínez  (but turns 32 before this season ends)
Facundo Medina
Attila Szalai
Abdou Diallo
Mario Hermoso
Abakar Sylla

Maehle and Dumfries look like the obvious choices. We will have 2 good players for both FB positions but I don't want to spend 60m on a backup when the midfield needs a revamp.

Denzel Dumfries (who I approve of for a buy) is the most expensive available RB out there

in fact, counting ALL right-backs, only 5 more (actually 4 as Kimmich is now a DMF, but I list him anyway) on the planet would cost more

(the top one of all, Reece, we already have, so not listed)

Achraf Hakimi
Joshua Kimmich (he was a RB , the best in the world, for years)
Trent Alexander-Arnold
João Cancelo
Diogo Dalot

What sort of midfielder is Enzo comparable to? Haven’t payed close attention. Paying £100m or more for a midfielder who isn’t already a superstar seems nuts.

He's a South American DM so similar to fabinho and casemiro. He can also play as a box to box mf as well though.

The problem is he plays rwb so definitely isn't as defensively sound as James. I think he would get caught out in the prem. Other 4 are definitely not availible so it must be him or drop off to someone like maehle.

my first choice has been, ever since we lost out on Hakimi (who can play winger and wide MFer too)

Joakim Mæhle

Report – Atalanta will sell Juventus target for 15m euros

https://www.juvefc.com/report-atalanta-will-sell-juventus-target-for-15m-euros/

DECEMBER 22, 2022 - 3:45 PM

Atalanta is prepared to sell Joakim Maehle amidst interest from Juventus as the Bianconeri seek to make the Dane a member of their group in Turin.

Juve has had their eyes on him for some time now, and after watching him at the WC, they could move for him in January.

Atalanta had previously been against selling him and wanted a huge transfer fee before releasing him from Bergamo.

However, that seems to have changed with a report on Tuttomercatoweb revealing they will sell him for the right price even in January.

It claims La Dea will accept any offer of around 15m euros for his signature, making it easy for Juve to make their move or drop their interest.

Is Enzo on the same talent level as Jude Bellingham and Tchoameni? That’s the sort of player I’d expect to get for the money being talked about.

I don't think so, but he just won the WC so benfica is holding out for his release clause. I don't think the source is good though, it says we're bidding more than his release clause, I don't get why we would do that.

We paid over Nkunku release clause as well.

Tbf, we’ve apparently just laid over Nkunku’s release clause to ensure that we got him before a bidding war started. But yeah, the idea that we’d spend over 100m on a midfielder when we’ve currently got a million of them on our books makes no sense.

Bellingham is a class above both, I can see dropping €140m (£124m) to €150m (£133m) on him

Tchou's value has ROCKETED up (as I predicted, and we could have had him for £40m to £50m in 2021, ffs), but Enzo is probably worth about the same atm

£100m to £110m

€127m (the price being quoted by Castles, so grain of salt) is £112m

he has a release clause supposedly of €120m (£106m) so not sure what is going on

Rice is worth £80m max for me, but will cost over £100m (fucking Moyes said £150m last summer, LOLOLOL) unless he pushes hard for a transfer

Been voted best young player of the WC. Definitely among best Argentina players. Benfica is phenomenal this season. 28 games 23 wins 5 draws. League already wrapped and in CL top of the group with Juve and PSG.

We need upgrade in MF more than other positions. If we already know Jude wants something else and many of us dont rate Rice at all we should do it. Jorginho and Kante are leaving for free most likely.
