Laylabelle 9,535
Our fans that travelled must have been sooo happy.Esp if they'd also been to the other two games where again we were crap!
Aesthetic Relic 301
It might serve as such a wake-up call that we'd probably win the UEFA cup... The alarm bells have been ringing since the Liverpool game imo.
chrismada9 1,948
I think the reason we did not win is because Scolari fluffed up his tactics. The mentality of the team was very negative in the first half - I think Big Phil expected Bordeaux to come out all guns blazing, and wanted us to stand off them and hit them on the counter. They didn't do that, and we had no Plan B. Second half was more of the same, although the goal calmed us down. The one time we actually managed to put a decent pass through in the attacking third led to a goal, and if it wasn't for Lampard's vision and Anelka's composure, we could be sitting third right now. Ultimately, its disappointing, but we didn't deserve to win the match, but at least we have got the chance to qualify. I'd take finishing second over having to play against teams from countries we didn't know actually existed in the UEFA Cup. I actually agree with what you're saying there, although I would have expected, even at 1-0 to see Scolari at least have the courage to bring on a defender on for a striker (maybe Joe Cole), and then "shut up shop", but even that's a dangerous affair in itself because you obviously have a bombardment of attacks coming from the opposition, and you just sit there wondering whether Chelsea are going to concede or not. I just got angry when Diarra scored with that header, because he had acres of space to manouvre in as the corner came in, something which Chelsea should have immediately seen and dealt with, but they didn't, and that got me annoyed because it just looked so obvious. To conclude, I'm not going to see Frank Lampard when I go to Stamford Bridge to witness a VERY important Champions League game!
Drogba11CFC 108
Maybe we should install a panic button at the Bridge.
BlueLion. 21,491
I agree, CJ. Its not the fact we drew that bugs me, it is the manner that they scored their goal. For most of the match, we defended well and kept them out of the area, meaning they had to result to long range efforts. The one time the defence isn't organised, we concede a sloppy goal that could so easily have been avoided. Very frustrating.
chrismada9 1,948
Yes indeed, you wouldn't see Manchester United concede a goal like that. Fergie would go nuts!

And it'd no doubt been handballed, offside, foul on someone or whatever We've done that before recently..ish.Cant remember what game but just remember they were taking a corner and it was ahhh theres no one on the post and then they scored. Its just wtf as said common knowledge or whatever the word is.And that was frustating and to see it happen again even more so
chrismada9 1,948
Its just wtf as said common knowledge or whatever the word is. I think it's "common sense" you were trying to think of there. And 'yes' I agree, it is common sense to look for gaps in the defence and fill them, making sure your opposing strikers don't score against you! chrismada9 1,948
Well, I've already got my ticket for the Cluj match in December. £25 it cost me, plus I'm going on my own this time, so it better be worth the effort to get up there, just to see my beloved Chelsea get to the knockout stages!!! diskoviolente 425
somehow i think it is not an English dominated Champions League season this season was just to much last year... well yes, manurelooserpoolarsenill are all doing good, but other teams are waaay better
warnie_666 1,081
I have no hope of Champions league this season. Our away form is Abismal. Crap. Scolari's tactics are so crap, i cant beleive he take so long to make changes. 0 shots on and off target and he continues with the formation for 63 mins. Luckily we scored the goal. Now Beat Cluj and hope the other game is a draw.
.Cee 50
So this makes it 6 away games with none won.................... Maybe Bosingwa was having a cup of tea  Yeah, and he was drinking the stupid tea with Terry.
BlueLion. 21,491
To be honest, none of the English teams have exactly flattered in the group stages. Oh well, Liverpool didn't do too well in their group last season and got the Semis, and had a very poor group stage in 04/05 - they went on to win it! Fulham Broadway 17,319
Pretty shocking tbh. Shambolic marking at that corner, and could see them getting something, and Scolari not filling me with confidence atm -hardly professional to say ''Im going back to Brazil if there isn't the quality to beat Cluj''. That said we should qualify - and top of the league isnt too bad
diskoviolente 425
Well, i can understand Scolari a bit, none the less it is unprofessional to say something like that, but Chelsea has the quality to beat teams like Roma, Cluj and Bordeaux. i don´t have to state out the results. Scolari just can do what he wants - the team doesn´t get in ! i am not sure what was their plan - but it didn´t work out.... the manager doesn´t have the big influence on the match itselfs,so ... the team has to sort things out ! and they didn´t ... no ideas in centremidfield kill a match !
