BlueLion. 21,491
...They will also be joined in the travelling party by Yossi Benayoun, who has recovered sufficiently from a groin problem to be available for selection, and Didier Drogba, who had hernia surgery last week. Four players, however, will remain in England.'We will keep here Cech, Alex, Bosingwa and Deco because they need to work on their fitness,' explained Ancelotti... Click for source, and rest of article.______________________________________Interesting to see Drogba going, he must be able to train then. LDN Blue 7,903
Does that mean there's a chance he, Drogba, will feature in the Community Shield?
BlueLion. 21,491
I'm not sure. If he's on the plane it means he is able to train. It doesn't necessarily mean he can feature in Germany but nevertheless it means the medical department think he is fit enough to partake in training. Let's not forget he was only originally said to be out for three weeks and knowing the wonders of modern recuperation techniques he could well be fit for the first league match at least. TIWATZ 64
Will be nice to see Zhirkov now when he has been taught how we play and felt one season in the PL, he did great covering for Cole but I long for him in the midfield! He'll be 27 in around 21 days so it's a great player to have and personally I'd love to see him getting more playtime.
chrismada9 1,948
Definitely agree. I think Zhirkov had a great first season with us, and hopefully, should he get more playtime he'll only get better. It will be tough shifting Ashley Cole out of the left back position at the moment, but he's an excellent utility player to have.
magic weeds 446
I think Zirkov was great the whole season when caled upon, especially in the Aston villa and bolton games. One thing for sure, Chelsea has many options on the left side (from defence all the way to attack). Its just a shame the same cant be said concerning the Right side. we lacking a right footed winger. imo

magic weeds 446
Benayoun? Always thought, and still think that Benayoun plays as an attacking midfielder, often occupying the space just behind the striker. What am talking about is a player like Ashley Young on the right side of the pitch. BlueLion. 21,491
However, Ancelotti did have a bit of good news ahead of the first game of our Barclays Premier League season next weekend.'[Petr] Cech will be fit for West Brom, and so will Alex, they will come back to training next week.'It's only [Jose] Bosingwa who needs more time, maybe two or three weeks and [Didier] Drogba came back on 26th, he needs another two weeks to be fully fit, he can still play.
