Footpatrol x adidas Originals Campus 80s: Echoing Past Collabs & 80s Terrace Nostalgia

This season, we recommence our long-standing partnership with adidas, unveiling our latest iteration of the adidas Originals campus. For this collaborative effort, we wanted to champion a real feel of 80s terrace nostalgia, searching through adidas’ long-listed lineage of fits whilst combining elements plucked from our FP archives to deliver an all-new lifestyle-apt feel to this icon.

Forming an important part of our design discography throughout our 21-year tenure, the Footpatrol and adidas collaborative journey hails back to the noughties with our first-ever pairing of the Consortium Superstar Vintage (2005), shortly followed by our first adaption of the adidas campus (2007), that hit our shelves in three newly re-tooled colourways (Burgundy, Mustard, and Iron).

From here we continued to pluck out some legends from the German brand’s archives including the arrival of our ‘Aqua’ ZX800 from the A-ZX series (2008), taking part in the Consortium programme with Hong Kong-based retailer JUICE (2017), not to mention our lauded Consortium Runner 4D (2018) and EQT Running Support ‘93 (2021).

Upon arrival, our latest rendition sources inspiration from all previous Footpatrol Campus collaborations. Landing in a muted pigskin suede build, adjoined with long nap hairy suede emblazoned across the toe box, which builds out the streamlined shape of the shoe. Tonal pony hair material grace the 3-Stripes branding on the laterals, whilst the medial removes the 3-Stripes exposing the underlayer liner material.

Dual tongues comprise of two different layers; the outer side takes on a pony hair build while the inner tongues (left – ‘Navy’ | right – ‘Burgundy’) draw inspiration from the colourways of our 2007 & 2011 Campus collaborations complete with Footpatrol branding in debossed form. We also pay homage to those earlier colourways through our co-branded ‘Mustard’ and ‘Iron’ painted insoles.

Doubled stacked heel tabs are gilded in a recycled snakeskin print with adidas embossed logos, while underneath, tonal branded 2002 & 2022 lettering as a nod to our 20th anniversary. As if all these details weren’t enough! The Footpatrol branding has been shifted from the traditional positioning and placed around the lateral ankle collar. This pays homage to the detailing found on the 2002 adidas Predator Mania (a customisation detail created for elite players only).

HANON x Diadora Intrepid “Glorious Moments”

Almost 16 years ago, James McFadden etched himself into Scottish football folklore following a famous night in Paris.

It was Wednesday 12th September 2007, and Scotland were facing up against World Cup finalists France on their home turf. Having already beat them in Glasgow the previous year, and with Scotland sitting second in the table with four games to go, the stage was set, and qualification for the EUROs was truly on the cards.

---

It was a cagey affair with both teams struggling to create genuine chances, until the game sparked to life in the 64th minute when Craig Gordon’s goal kick dropped at the feet of James McFadden. Deep in French territory, he turned towards goal and put his foot through the ball from 30 yards out. “Pick it out Landreau!” was the call as pandemonium ensued inside the Parc des Princes and in homes, pubs, and streets across Scotland.

Bold, with strong attributes, without fear, courageous; these are four synonyms for the word intrepid which perfectly describes our take on Diadora’s 1988 classic. Handcrafted in Italy, the HANON Intrepid is kitted out in a warm grey hairy suede upper with premium mesh underlays, lush dark blue nappa leather and bright blue pebbled nubuck overlays. A metallic gold leather Diadora formstripe teams up with gold embroidered branding on the vamp and heel, and additional branding can be found on both sides of the tongue label. The shoe is finished with an allover printed sockliner with gold foil branded stickers, and sits on a tonal VIBRASORB midsole with contrasting dark blue rubber outsole. Each pair will be presented in a custom box with branded tissue paper, two extra lace sets, and a James McFadden silhouette sticker.

The original shirt was worn as Scotland’s away kit across a two-year period for the EURO 2008 qualifying campaign. Instantly recognisable by its distinctive design as well as being the shirt worn for ‘that’ goal, HANON have worked alongside Diadora to recreate the jersey in its original execution. The white base is contrasted by the bold sky blue cross on the chest outlined in gold, and finished with updated badge and logos positioned as per the original. Additional branding appears below the badge to commemorate the moment in time.

SNS and adidas Originals bring back one of the mysteries of sneaker culture, a sneaker treasure hunted by collectors. After visiting the iconic adidas Archive, we realized that even there, a place that tells the history of adidas in physical form, the adidas HRLM was not to be tracked down. Initially released in limited quantities someday in the early ‘80s, the adidas HRLM has a basketball DNA, and that is all we know.

To reintroduce this classic adidas sneaker, we created a contemporary, as-close-to-the-OG update that is equally relevant for collectors on the hunt for an original pair and fans of adidas trainer culture. The SNS-exclusive adidas HRLM is made with a premium leather upper featuring nubuck overlays, different shades of blue on the three stripes, and updated adidas Centennial Lo midsole to get as close to the original pair as possible.

SNS tapped the perfect person to re-introduce the shoe to market – “Diplomats” legend, musician, entrepreneur, and Harlem’s own, Jim Jones. Jones was born and raised in Harlem, a founding member of Dipset and one of NYC’s most legendary rappers.

For the campaign, SNS brought in photographer Gogy Esparza who shot Jones at a local studio in Harlem and then brought it outside to his local block.

Returned from the archives 39 years after its debut, the Nike Mac Attack received a star-studded revitalization in late June via Travis Scott and tennis legend John McEnroe. Following a number of first looks over the past few weeks, the OG mid-80s tennis staple now begins to add the aid of collaborators to its resurgence with Social Status recently revealing a neutral-based option for July.

Inspired by the inner city currency of food stamps and the dates they are renewed by the government, the Charlotte banner’s “1st & 15th” short film introduces the landscape to the silhouette’s first collaborative effort. Exploring a blank white canvas, the upcoming offering pairs subtle suede accents with premium cracked leather across the upper. Slight hits of silver complement the neutral-based ensemble throughout, concentrating along the upper collar, heel foxing and laces while the greyscale Swoosh can be worn away to reveal a decadent light-pink suede.

Followed by three additional colorways, the Social Status x Nike Mac Attack “Silver Lining” will kick off the brand’s upcoming slate of releases on July 14th in adult sizes for a retail price of $140. In the meantime, enjoy a detailed look at the pair’s campaign imagery below.

Introducing the DTLR x New Balance 990v4 “Wild Style 2.0”

We’ve been cooking up a ton of DTLR-exclusive sneakers with New Balance this year. Just last month, we dropped the “Glow” 9060. And we launched our Virginia-inspired “Lovers Only” 2002R the month before that. So, you’re probably wondering what July has in store for the DTLR x New Balance partnership.

The latest collaborative release is a sequel to one of our favorite projects from last year – we’re calling it the DTLR-exclusive New Balance 990v4 “Wild Style 2.0.”

Like the “Wild Style” 990v3 from 2022, the upcoming 990v4 “Wild Style 2.0” is a kids-only release (apologies in advance to all the adults looking to score a pair). But unlike the OG “Wild Style,” this new pair uses its vibrant, coloring book–inspired tones more sparingly.

The upper is dressed primarily in lush black suede, which appears on the mudguards, quarter panels, eyestays, and heel panels. “Shadow Grey” mesh underlays run throughout, providing breathability for those warm days on the playground. The two-toned look is broken up by light “Sky Blue,” “Electric Red,” and “Chloro Green” leather panels that arrive on the forefoot, midfoot, and heel sections. “Pineapple”–colored “N” overlays are displayed on the lateral and medial sides, and “990” is printed on the lateral heels in “Sky Blue.”

Down below, ENCAP foam midsole units are done in a split “Sky Blue,” “Cosmic Grape,” and white color scheme. Semi-translucent TPU heel clips offer structural support, while “Hot Marigold”–colored rubber outsoles provide traction.

The DTLR-exclusive New Balance 990v4 “Wild Style 2.0” will release in grade-school, pre-school, and infant sizes on DTLR.com and DTLR stores Friday, July 14th. Mark your calendars.

size? x adidas Originals Yabisah Pack in Colors Inspired by Ibiza’s Old Town

Back in June, size? dropped three shop exclusive colorways of the adidas Originals Yabisah. The trio released in colorways inspired the island’s famous party venues: Pikes, Pacha and Amnesia.

For July, size? has produced a second adidas Originals Yabisah Pack. This one includes two colorways of the sneaker in tones that draw from Ibiza’s Old Town.

size? is releasing the pack through a draw process on its app, which will run from 22nd of July to the 27th of July.

A homage to Ibiza – and the silhouette which derives its name from – the adidas Originals Yabisah was first resurrected from the archives in its all-white guise. In the first instalment of the pack, each shoe was executed in a very different way to reflect the eclectic nature of iconic venues situated on the island, including Amnesia, Pacha and Pikes, and now the second instalment utilises the colours of Ibiza’s Old Town.

Recreating the archive silhouette, each shoe in the pack opts for plush suede bases. The first is presented with creamy suede uppers, while the second is coated in a darker brown hue – a fitting tribute to the Spanish Island’s sun-drenched Old Town and its ancient, historical buildings. A gold-tone Trefoil confirms adidas Originals’ sporting origins on the tongue and further down a gum rubber outsole offers grip in every step rounding out the design.

The draw for both adidas Originals Yabisah – ?exclusive opens 22.07.2023 and closes 27.07.2023. The shoe comes in Men’s and Women’s sizes, priced at £110.
