I meant very poor in the normal English sense.

My score was 1.9 out of 5, where the lower means worse

 

I guess Germany is opposite, the lower the better

So in German, I say he barely made ausreichend 

 

I know my English number doesn't match. 1.9 for me  means very poor, but not disaster, if that makes sense

I will stop grading on the German scale, lolol
