Was useless as usual in the 40 odd minutes he was on the field. The link between defense and attack that he was supposed to provide was completely missing. He took 9 touches on the ball to complete a grand total of 3 passes in 40 minutes. As a result our defenders had to step up for that role as well (luiz's pass to hazard).

He was just another body on the pitch in the game. 0 tackles, 1 interceptions in 40 minutes of football and people here are raving about him.

He came on when we had 10 men, we weren't playing football anymore. We parked the bus, and it was clear he was under construction to just keep it simple.

He provided added defensive solidity and such, which our offense to not completely sacrifice their attacking game (until late in extra time when we were desperately trying to hang on), but I don't even want to discuss it with you since you clearly hate anything he does.

i know i am not supposed to use words like "idiots" against whatever "opinion" is being generated by people but the level of #@$##$%#@ is immense. mikel might not be the best DM in the world, might not be the best DM even in our team when we dont even have another recognized DM, but to say he was poor against bayern is ,,,, well,,,, to put it very very very very mildly WRONG.

We wont have many games like we did against United and Bayern, this isn't five years ago, we aren't counter attackers anymore. We keep the ball and look for any option to get a goal, our play requires good movement, passing, creativity and first touches.

However this is Mikel's fault he failed to perform when he had to fight for his place. When Essien was out for 6 months two seasons ago it was Mikel's time to flourish, he failed. He had a bad season last season and we can't keep making excuses, sorry Mikel fans but the results haven't been positive for him. The best option is to move on and replace him.

I fail to see how my post can be considered aggressive and after seven years of watching Mikel diplomacy is out of the window .

I have very strong opinions on his ability and his worth to Chelsea and I want to see the back of him for the good of the club and am hopeful Jose has him sussed .

It would seem a lot on here do not agree with Jose's decision to bench him ,I do ,so you could say I am backing our managers judgement.

Tiote is a ball winning midfielder, a very good one as well, but I'm happy we never signed him because he's injury prone. We needed more aggressive players in our team and Mikel isn't aggressive in the slightest. However Ramires has flourished into a very good ball winning midfielder or box to box type what have you, so we've benefited in the end.
