Didier Drogba

Nowadays his best contribution is kicking the ball away to waste time. I really hope he retires this summer so we can sign a PROPER back up/challenger to Costa like Lacazette. Remy is good but his heart condition means he cannot be trusted to lead the line for one of the best team in the world regularly.

You gotta be kidding, not that joke again

I must have been watching another game because I thought his link-up play was sublime today.

Few people understand the importance of link up play and hold up play esp in certain circumstances/moments/ or types of games the opponent may throw at you.

Remy is a fantastic striker, but he has never been a hold up player striker and his link play is abysmal. Drogba is old and thus has became "leggy" but he is still the best hold up and link up play striker we have.

Oh come on.

I was beginning to think I can't see who is playing good and bad anymore. Thanks for seeing the same as me.

He needs more match time to get him sharp and focused. But no doubt he has lost the pace and acceleration.

He never really had any acceleration, but he has certainly lost what pace he did. That doesn't stop him from still being, IMO, the world's best at holding the ball up.

He's been lacking match practice/fitness, which is why he was much better during that run of games against Tottenham/Man Utd towards the end of the year,,.hopefully should be rectified with him making more appearances due to Costa's injury.

(I can think of at least one from the upcoming fixtures where he would be useful ;-)

Also, Drogba's level has been more or less like this over the past couple of years. Its not as if he dramatically went from prime Henry to old age Heskey in a matter of a few weeks.

His holdup play and aerial ability up is second to no-one on the squad, and he still has good ideas to keep our team ticking. (Yes, even kicking the ball away in extra time)
