Buying new phone

The holiday spirit, discounts and a bit o need brought me to buy a new phone in next weeks.

I have decided to choose between Lg Optimus L9 that would cost me about 600 euros in two years or Samsung Galaxy S2 that would cost me around 800euros in 24months. So which one should I get? There is not much difference, Galaxy has despite its 1,5 year old phone better hardware and software, as well Samsung phones have much more support than LG ones.

So if anyone has one of two phones, could he tel me about the experience with it? Im turning on Samsung more, but its 200euros expensiver.

600€ for L9 is over the top even on back payments. It's meant to be a mid-range phone, you pay 600 or 800 only for new high-end phones (ffs 800 is iphone 5 price). Technology is grossly overpriced in Estonia and L9 costs around 300€ or less here. A new S II costs between 355-440, not more. If you're getting ripped off in Slovenia, maybe you should consider ordering one from eBay or Amazon without some pesky 2 year contract?

Otherwise, S2 >>>>> L9

Im counting my monthly payment in package contract too.

I would have L9 for free with 25eur per month (calling included, sms and net browsing) for 2yrs, which gives 600 eur.

Or GSII for 310 and another 20eur each month for 2years, comes close to 800.

I hope you see what I meant.

I know you're talking about back payments. Nevertheless, still too expensive + you will be tied to a contract. If you can afford it, buy it for single payment, it will be cheaper and you won't have contractual restrictions. You will have paid 600 or 800 euros for a phone which in two years will be worth not even half of that, in fact they are worth half of that now. How much do they cost in single payment?

For example, you can get an unlocked S II from eBay for 285 €, less than your initial payment.

Or if you don't trust that seller and want to buy from a top rated seller, then you can get one for 324 €

i was going to buy lumia 620 wen it arrives

I have the Lumia 800

Windows 8 might be better.

I enjoyed it at first, but I don't think it's that good anymore.

The apps are terrible. If you want to use Whatsapp the push notifications don't work properly so you have to keep opening it to see if you have messages. The battery life is absolutely terrible.

It's a nice neat OS if you're not bothered about apps it's fine. Nothing special at all though.

I have the samsung galaxy note 2. The bigger brother of the S3 and can definitely reccomend them. I never owned the S2 but if the S3 or Note 2 are anything to go by then definitely get the samsung... 800 euros seems a lot though for that phone.

Samsung Galaxy S3 - got one for the missus - around 300 euro's - she loves it and is never off it - which is amazing, gives me peace and quiet!

I really do like the samsungs, excellent display, great UI...

Would avoid iPhone - looks like a childs toy in comparison to Android phone... :D

Tbh the best deal currently in the smartphone market is the LG Nexus 4. It costs only 299€ in google play store, unfortunately they are available only in certain countries, not including Slovenia I think. Many people say it is the best phone out there, and it's a nexus so it's automatically a plus, so 299€ is peanuts. People who live in play store supported countries and want a new good phone for cheap, I definitely recommend the Nexus 4.

@manpe, what about S4? When will it be launched?

As you can see, I desperately need a new phone. I`ve been thinking of buying it in January, but my parents will be traveling to the USA in May, so I will ask them to buy it for me (a lot cheaper).
