But...he is still struggling now. That’s why I find it silly indirectly accusing Conte for his failings last season.

Doesn't change the fact that you seem keen to react negatively to everything about him though. As @OneMoSalah said above, he was talking more about the playing style helping/not helping him than blaming Conte. Whether Sarri's approach can get the best out of him remains to be seen but can you really disagree with Morata's point about Conte's playing style if you think about it? We all know Morata isn't the strongest, isn't a physical striker and yet Conte continuously to use him like a target man. It was like Conte using Hazard as the player upfront and then asking others to lump the ball up to him and we all know what happened with that one.

He blamed a style that Conte used last season. He doesn’t have to call Conte’s name out. He did not like his style as it doesn’t suit him, therefore that’s why he’s saying he was terrible last season.

Bad players can have good games too, ask Torres. I agree that he is playing better than 2nd half of last season, but that’s because he was sooo poor. Now he’s around 5/10 mark. The jury is still out, the first game was against Huddersfield, and Arsenal 1st half played to his strengths. 2nd half he was easily neutralised because Arsenal played deeper, which most PL teams will do against us.

....and what about Mandzukic when he was at Bayern and didn't like Peps style... he called Pep out (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2248629-mario-mandzukic-slams-pep-guardiola-for-bayern-munich-exit-taunts-former-boss). Morata hasn't called anybody out, he mentioned the style and the difficulties perhaps he had because that's not his game. I think your trying to add something where there is nothing in all honesty. If it was any other player it wouldn't be an issue.

Torres again? The guy played over 200 games for us and had maybe 10 good games if you want to call it that. I mean its a bit pointless to bring him up. Yes Arsenal neutralised him but again still it doesn't mean he played poor, he didn't hold it up every time because Mustafi and Papodopulous like to get tight when they can and are very physical centre backs but he still did alright, nothing outstanding but still did things any striker would do. The way your critiquing him is a bit harsh. The truth is as individual players they maybe have 3-4 minutes in possession where as the rest of the match it is off the ball. Again I get it you don't rate him but you can't expect every striker or every player in that regard to play perfectly for 90 minutes. It just doesn't happen.

Yes the jury is still out but again, give the guy a bit of an opportunity because pre-season means nothing in all honesty, the real games are now and so far hes been slowly improving and still will I feel, along with the rest of this team.

Chiringuito ( first to announce ronaldo to Juve, big reliable Real Madrid source ) have just announced that Morata has an agreement with Real, wouldn't cost more than 80M.
They don't clearly state that we are willing to sell or that Morata is Real's first target but they do say that it is a very real option for both player and club, and that latest birth of his twins is making him think of a return to Madrid.

Probably a plan B for Real if everything falls apart with Rodrigo.

Ambitious target, but I'd be elated with 20+ goals from him.

  • 2 weeks later...

I’m sure he has a lot on his mind atm, and congrats to him, but as one who actually praises his play even when he does not score, there is very little to praise about his performance against Bournemouth... giroud came in and did his regular slow thing and it was a hell lot more than what morata did.

needs to do a lot more to remain at this club.
