I can't watch him anymore, and being hauled off at HT says everything about him.

I'm surprised at people's reactions to Bakayoko.  Did everyone really expect him to become a class midfielder over night?

He is as raw as they come from the French League. Barely played two full seasons of senior football, gets a big money move to a top club and he's expected to be the new Matic.

As his former mentor (Makelele) mentioned in multiple interviews, Bakayoko has no discipline in his game, he'll never be a calm midfielder, ready to sit and recycle possession, he's unpredictable, he can do something brilliant then make an awful mistake straight after, he has a while to go before he becomes a consistent threat.

I expected to him to be able to control the ball and pass the ball 5 yards, he struggles with both.

At Monaco he was brilliant, and right now there are no excuses for his inability to even contribute one single thing. Like I always say I want to be proven wrong, but as it stands this bloke shouldn't even be considered starting anytime soon.

I would say: new league, no preseason and some new injury niggles, plus no rest at all for weeks because there were no other CMs (even though he just came back from a long term injury) could explain some of his problems at the moment.

I think his main problem is the pace of the league. He seems to need like half a second or so longer to make decisions. Bernardo Silva at City is having the same problem - but Pep is integrating him into his side slowly because he has a fantastic squad at City. Something we couldn’t have done here whatsoever.

The incompetence at this club is mind blowing sometimes. We signed an injured midfielder in Bakayoko - what do we decide to do again for his competition/cover? We sign an injured Drinkwater.

Should not be playing then, because we saw what happened at Anfield, even the basics he struggles with and his mistakes are leading to conceding a goal like we saw.

I get what you are saying, but IMO passing a ball 5-10 yards he's struggling with, he is not reading the game correctly and with this he's a liability.

Is it half a second longer to make decisions, or half a second longer to fully control the football? Isn't the latter more likely, that his first touch is not great and that his overall technique is making it harder to adjust to a faster paced league?

Players with better technique can more easily adapt to new leagues and their peculiarities.

Much better game from him - goal, some few nice passes (especially the one to Hazard with outside part of the foot), showed some aggresivness, but in a better way than stupid fouls. hope he can keep up with form against opposition that actually is showing up for a game

That doesn't really explain the complete lack of any technical ability whatsoever. He looks completely and utterly out of his depth against even average Premier League opponents. He may get better but his ceiling isn't that high because of his lack of skill. I seriously doubt there will be a massive improvement on what he is currently. It will be marginal at best.

Drinkwater is comfortably better and he isn't good enough either.

We're rubbish because we sign players like this whilst the top teams continue to prioritise skill and technique.

Finally someone who understands, I know that players need time to adjust to a new league, ne team etc etc. I can quite understand that, but the problem is not that he isn't able to adjust to this club, the problem is he hasn't really shown what are we even giving him time for, because he hasn't shown any sort of skill set whatsoever. You give time to players to sort out and polish their skills, but what to do about a player who has just shown an ardent lack of them.
