Wait I thought it was a loan?

Are they obligated to buy him next season?

Is that even allowed?

This is what Falcao's agent said apparently:

"It is a permanent deal but due to the fair play rules the first year must be a loan."

That still doesn't make sense.

United are not in cl so FFP should be of no concern till they get back in right?

CL/European participation is based on your FFP from the year before I believe... I'm not too sure how valid those quotes are though tbh.

Well I remember uefa saying they would cut a break for teams that fail to qualify as it reduces their revenue.

So for me I don't get it why United would worry about such things. Especially when they making so much money.

You're right but if they signed him they would've spent around £200m and that's a lot of money. Top that with the huge amount of wages that they pay and it's easy to see why they might be worrying - especially if they're trying to bring in more signings.

So bizarre. With the money they spent United could have strengthened positions they actually need strengthening. Even if RVP is getting an operation, it's not like it was necessary to replace him: RVP, Rooney and Mata couldn't coexist as it is. What happens when RVP is back? Many people with high wages are going to be very unhappy. It's not like RVP and Falcao will have a great resale value at their age.

I thought Wenger was an idiot for refusing to strengthen the positions he needs, but LVG and United are just as bad.

they might be in CL next season. they have to atleast plan accordingly.

nonetheless, weird signing. could have bought vidal easily with all the money they have wasted.

'Who's better, Falcao or Costa?'

'If Falcao comes back from injury and is anywhere close to as good as he was before then him, easily.'

'Easily Falcao; Costa has only really had one stellar season I'm aware of.'

'Is that some kind of sick joke? A decent start to life at Chelsea does not make Costa anywhere near as good as Falcao is.'

The Costa vs Falcao debate has already started FFS

RVP could be off after another knee surgery...thats why they got falcao then. All in all, prime RVP still better than Falcao for PL IMO, this signing makes zero sense for united.

First and foremost Falcao is poacher who needs good service and others to work hard in team. Who is that exactly in this united team? They should target CM or CB (I think they will too actualy) not another striker.

But anyway, Premier league is getting more and more interesting

why are people obsessed with comparing players?

it doesn't matter, all that matters is who's the better team

Exactly, yeah maybe if they are both fully fit in their prime Falcao is probably better but would he really be better in our team and after that knee injury? Who knows... you don't win titles/games by using names or otherwise Madrid would have dominated every single match in football as their 11 is essentially nearly world 11.

Costa is great with us and that is the main thing, he is also suited to our style.

Us and United have literally swapped roles in recent seasons.

It use to be us spunking money on players we didn't need while United were sensible in the market, it's literally turned around completely on it's head.

This also means Fergie has no control whatsoever, thia would never have happened under his control.
