Radamel Falcao

The question is whether we should be committing close to £100 million to him when we have needs in other areas. Personally I'm not sure we do need an 'out and out goal machine' when we've never really needed one in the past. I've always thought we were at our best when we had goals throughout the team and let's not forget we won two league without a 15 goal a season striker (incidentally we'll probably have two of those next season).

Well said. To spend that kind of money & FFP lurking by is not desired, I feel.

After all, Lukaku is ready to play at Chelsea next season.

I disagree on Lukaku, at West Brom he plays in a counter-attack team and has lot of space to run.

The intricate running, link-up play is not his strength.

Cavani for me would be the best forward for our team. The way he played for Forlan and Suarez in the uruguayan side is what we need.

no I personally woukdnt want us spending that sort of doe on him but its closer to 50 than 100 mill surely. We will always have goals throughout this side as long as we have juan and hazard and lamps but id stil feel a hell of a lot better if we had a guy up front who could be trusted to bury it the majority of the time. If big lukaku is to be given the chance ill be more than happy but will he make the step up easily? I dont know.

Certainly, Chelsea could play on the counter attach if needed. However his size, finishing touch could be utilize easily.

Cavani is overpriced & Chelsea do not need to spend excessively. FFP is just around the corner. Money saved on someone like Cavani could be used for 2 more players.

Dont understand how a guy who scores 45 in 57 appearances or something like that in one of the strongest leagues whilst not playing for one of the big 2 can have any question marks over him. Seen someone earlier write that all he does is score....AND? Thats what we need, an out and out goal machine who doesnt spend most of his time out on the wing mincing about. He or cavani would be great but not sure we will get either

I was replying to your post but it turned out to be too long, so I thought I might as well make it into an article and post it on the main site here. Sorry if it's too long, but here is the reply: http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/15665-a-case-against-signing-radamel-falcao

I love how all of a sudden when Falcao doesn't score lots of goals, none of you guys want him, when months earlier you were drooling over him...

Go check if you want, earlier in this thread I and a few others were very much against us signing Falcao. Yes, he's a brilliant goal getter, but he honestly doesn't fit into the system we're trying to create here.

I'm glad people have finally realised Falcao isn't the best option for us now. Especially now Lukaku's flourishing, I don't think we really need another striker. I proposed earlier this season that my ideal strikeforce would consist of Cavani/Sturridge/Lukaku but now that we have Ba and Lukaku's come along quite nicely, I think that a Lukaku/Ba/third choice striker is the way forward.

Lukaku's a risk, but so is signing a big name striker for £50m+. I think I'd rather risk the former, since Lukaku does have the potential to become an absolute monster. It's time to start giving faith and responsibility to our upcoming from next season onwards IMO.

Is it weird that Im not getting excited if this transfer happens somehow? Splashing cash on 50mio for arguably best striker in the world would blow me up few years ago, but now its seems like 'not this again'...
