You are aware it isn't 100 million his buyout clause is 48 million. atletico cant ask for anymore than that. 100 million is just the media spicing up the headline by adding in agent fees a figue of 200k a week and god knows what else. Wouldve thought you knew that...

You realise Torres will cost us more than 100mi if he stays until the end of his contract right?

Yes I am aware of that and guess what... I still don't agree with it. Makes me feel sick how much footballers get paid therefore my point still stands. I do not agree with paying near to 50 million for just one player again including the weekly wage bill resulting in a total sum of 100 million plus. We made that mistake with Torres and look at the shit storm it has caused. Who's to say Falcao would be a huge success here?

I am not saying it is right, but it is the price surronding football. They only make that much because they are highly profitable. CR7 was bought for 80mi + 10mi/season, Messi would be 150mi+, Rooney makes 220k/week, etc.

If we are a buying club we will have to live with some flops, but others will become great players...

It's life unfortunately I wish that the poor get all this money but in the football climate falcao for 47 mill is normal.

I agree lads, I really do. Just put my opinion down to my current mood regarding football. I'm getting a bit sick of it all if I'm being honest. Knowing what the world of football is currently like, buying Falcao for that kind of money is becoming the norm. I'm just at a low point when looking at how we go about our business like idiotic cowboys.

Anyone see his playacting earlier in the Madrid derby lol? Ramos swung his elbow, and hit him on the left cheek. Falcao then went down holding his nose lol..

Plus, I don't care how much we spend on him. Make it more than Torres, Its embarrassing how he's our most expensive player ever.

Check the article I posted in the page before. Menazo who worked with both Torres and Falcao sums up the why Falcao shouldn't flop.

"He shows that mental toughness in finals,” said Manzano.“Think about the Europa League final with Porto, the Europa League final with Atletico Madrid against Athletic Bilbao and the Super Cup win over Chelsea. You need enormous mental strength to play those type of games the way he does as if they were just another match. Whoever signs Falcao will have made the right decision. He is as close to a safe bet as you can have.”

Equally he described Torres as a “confidence player”.

That's the difference, Falcao has the mental toughness which separates a good player from a world class player. He's got the mentality of a champion, last year a certain number 11 passed his prime showed how far a positive/strong mental strength can take you.

He also said Torres can regain his form, etc. but we all know he is total shit nowdays.

People that are friends will always praise each other, just because Falcao's former coach said he couldnt flop anywhere, it doesnt mean he actualy wont. Perhaps the team would suit him, the playstyle or he could pick injury. He is also already 26 and in august/september/october he played best football of career. He can remain on same level, but he probably wont go up. Sure, he is already on top level, thats why.

So envious to know we spend that amounts of money when Barcelona made history last week by fielding an all 11 academy graduate team. Unbelievable!

I really would add that:

Why Falcao would join such a crumbling team in the middle of the season? Especially given Torres' nighmare? A part of Torres' woes has been amount of games played and lack of service. I don't see why it would change right from January.

Maybe because he knows chelsea is a bigger club no matter the clubs position now? sure atleti are doing well but are about to lose to madrid and with barca he knows there not going to win. some people are too negative...

Not a matter of bigger club or whatever. At the moment we're sliding into the Europa League, there's no options in the squad, not one once of a sporting project... He's not stupid, he know if he signs at Chelsea that he'll be over-played, with massive expectations he won't be able to fulfill.

I agree, from football stand point , he is better of at Madrid at the moment, the only reason he want to move to chelsea if he want more money

Not everyone has torress mentality you know. falcao will love the idea of playing all games as he did basically every game last season. Also he shows up on the big occasions and won't shy away from massive expectations. i mean he cost atleti 40 million, every questioned it and now hes shown everyone that 40million was a great price.

chelsea are in a bad state but a major reason for that is not being clinical right. falcao can fill that void and he will love the idea of mata, hazard oscar and the fallbacks feeding him.

Yeah, another Torres cliché. I don't know how you understood I was speaking about a player liking or not playing every game... It's just about what PL demands in terms of energy etc... Especially considering Falcao's play is based on runs, pace rather than any technical ability on the ball (nothing to do with Torres, really)

Now, compare the pressure at Atletico and at Chelsea. Atletico plays for Falcao, Falcao's from Latin America and plays in Spain, Falcao is insanely hyped on social medias etc... The fact Chelsea is atypic in his own style made medias focusing on what could be wrong, sell papers. That's just another world

you said he would be overhyped, so i naturally compared it with a signing we made who was also 50 mill and also overhyped. I was not insinuating you referred to torres at all just sarcastically exclaimed that falcao has a strong mentality by bringing up someone who doesn't .

also there was expectations from falcao he cost 40 mill and all reporters were questioning that. in all finals the world is watching there is pressure, super cup aswell. i reckon he can deal with the epl hype.

Why Falcao would join such a crumbling team in the middle of the season? Especially given Torres' nighmare? A part of Torres' woes has been amount of games played and lack of service. I don't see why it would change right from January.

Torres gets taken off - throws a strop

RdM drops him one game - gets the sack

I very much doubt RdM was happy with two strikers at the start of this season, I very much doubt he was happy to play Torres so much. But he didn't have a choice. He never had the backing of the board or Roman who were reluctant to give him a long term contract in the first place. If he was assured in his place within the club - I doubt we would be in such a mess right now.

And kindly stop saying anything about Service concerning Torres, there is plenty of service to be had in this squad if we had a capable striker instead of being forced to accommodate this passenger we would have far better results.

For the record I think there is a 1% chance of signing Falcao in the winter

Why is the mentality of a footballer always understated. We are one of the biggest clubs in the world right now. It's been made clear that Falcao would love to play in England. Also please lets not rely on this service argument please. Our players were creating chances, it was Torres that was the problem. He was missing easy chances and his movement was appalling, but lets not get onto this whole Torres debate. With the players we've signed, its clear what direction we're trying to go in and Falcao being the lead of this project playing as our number 1 striker would easily be enough to persuade him. He went from playing Champions League with Porto to Europa League with Atletico. It's not just about that. Going to play in England would give Falcao the chance to cement himself as one of the best players in the world. Don't underestimate the significance of playing for Chelsea in modern times, our wages, club status, league etc make us a huge pull for any player in the world

I wasn't that confident of signing Falcao. However, seeing how Torres has performed, our form etc. The only way Chelsea knows how to solve problems like these is just by chucking a lot of money at it. Pretty sure Roman won't hesitate to activate that release clause to appease the fans, get the club back on track and give us a real striker

Falcao needs more than 6 shots on goal to score. People have this idea that Falcao would come into Chelsea and just score every shot or something. He has limited skills apart from his finishing.Would he be better than Torres? Yeah, but a lot of strikers would be. Would he be a good fit for Chelsea? No. I'm happy that he only has 1 goal in his last five games because maybe it means the hype will start to die down. If Chelsea go out and sign Falcao, it will prove that they've learned nothing. Going after a big name for ridiculous amounts of money who doesn't really fit with the squad.

Nobody is saying he will score on almost every shot and you are already counting him as a flop. I think you are being biased when it comes to Falcao.

Just because some big names hasnt work for us, they are big for some reason. Why cant you give the man a chance (if he really comes)?

You do know falcao has one of the best shot to goal ratio's in the world, being 48% also i don't think you've seen enough of his goals because he has scored some insane goals. i think his goal will win puskas too:
