Almost 80% sure will just turn out to be another flop , he has been hugely successful in teams that were built to get the best out of their strikers , but here the set-up is to get the best out of the midfield , that means the striker will have to be a hardworking player , has at least decent link-up play , willing to move his ass around sometimes only to open up spaces for others.

That's why as i have said before Lewandowski should be the man for the task.

Yes Lewan is one I really want to see here. Holds up the ball so successfully, brings his teammates into play.

Well Lewandowski wouldn't be available before the end of the season, so I guess we could bring in someone like Bony in January. He'd add a bit of strength, aerial presence, fresh energy up front and he'd be available for a reasonably cheap price.

We need someone to play off and around. Falcao is a great player but Lewan is younger, cheaper and can play with his back to goal much better I think.

I'm certain falcao is what we need. We've got different options in torres, sturridge and later lukaku but no pure finisher. Cavani will be good too but I wuld want him not for any other quality but for his finishing the only thing is falcao has proved himself on the biggest stage as a leader upfront in domestic league and in europe . sturridge is as good a player outside the box if not better than both but for his selfishness, may be sturridge could also learn how to finish from falcao.

HAHA. Sometimes it's both funny and sad reading some comments here. The guy has a bad game and all of the sudden he is shit and u dont want him.

No he has had 4 straight bad games. And it's not that we don't want him, some people are just worried with the way he's playing.

Falcao is in the peak of his form the only place for him to go from here is down.

We should have bought him from porto now i don't see any point.

i'm sure his remarkable goal scoring record will normalise by the end of season( if he stays with atletico), by which time we'll be looking at some other in form striker.

I hope some rational person in the board will reject this move .

And how the hell would you know this?

The same way you know that he will be a big hit at chelsea.

And going by our past striker signings I have more chance of being right.

But going by Falcao's record conventional wisdom would say he will score bucket full of goals.

But the fact remains he is at the peak of his powers, he will slow down and hit a rough patch like torres(although the extent and duration is anyone's guess) and I dont want it to be in chelsea.

(will be more than happy to be proven wrong)

Again you come with a fact, that really is your guess. There's nothing that indicates that Falcao will now slow down and hit a rough patch. Theres nothing really that indicates that he is at the peak of his powers. And even if he would be, that doesnt mean that he will become worse, or anything like Torres.

It doesnt sound very likely. And what you say could be said about anyone.

I have that shit feeling that if Falcao comes to us, it will be bad but if he joins our rivals, he will be hit.

I think we should learn from our past with big money strikers. Maybe we should just go after someone who is about 25-30mio. That is not too much, but the striker that is worth that money, must be good too. No one is good to be worth 50mio. Maybe Messi and Ronaldo, but no one else realy.

No one is good to be paid the insane ammounts of money football players are paid. NO ONE. But that is the way it is.

And its not just about the fact that we should learn about our past with big money transfers. Its about signing the RIGHT player.

In 2004 Drogba was signed for what, 24m? That, to many, seemed like absolute madness. Look at how that turned out:

fair enough yes I'm speculating to an extent but you must also add the fact we are going to spend 40 odd million on a 26 year old with negligible resale value compared to the investment.

At the end of the day our miserable signings of shevchenko, torres in jan is a fact no one can deny, and I dont want falcao being added to the list for both his and our sake.

I highly doubt big clubs like Chelsea consider resale value when buying established players.

For instance, what Drogba did for us in the CL is worth more than 100m, but his worth isnt near 100m. You know what I mean?

like if Chelsea decide not to buy Falcao due to the Torres episode, and Falcao turns out to be the best thing to happen to the EPL since Roman Abramovich :)

That would mean Torres cost much more than 50mil.

But maybe he convinced Mata to join and also made the adjustment to Chelsea easier for Mata. And that is totally worth it.
