So it happend already? did we lose Remy? omg no!

'Omg', please note:

If we lose Remy, a proven back-up, and Bamford because we took a chance on the current sack of crap that is Falcao, Mourinho will have failed big time. I thought it was about 'keeping the current squad'?

And:

Loic Remy will consider Chelsea exit if Chelsea sign Falcao

Loic Remy wants to QUIT Chelsea with Man United flop Falcao closing in on move

Palace keen on Remy

Remy considering future in light of Falcao deal

etc. It goes on.

Also:

Everton interested in Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford

Don't forget Villa rumours as well.

So yeah, cheers.

It sounded like you already can't wait to criticize Mourinho.

If Remy wants to leave so he could be assured for more game time, like some of this articles suggests, than it's about him, it's his career decision, not Chelsea's. He and his fans (and I'm one of them) can't expect Mourinho to not bring anyone when Drogba leaves, a striker who played like 30 games last season. We can't and shouldn't do everything to keep Remy happy, with all the respect to him. But I'm sure Mourinho wants him to stay, like many articles suggests.

i really don't care what people say now about certian players during the transfer window. at the end this is a forum so there has to be some discussion. positive and negative viewpoint is needed. not everyone is always right.

agree. positive AND negative. unfortunately some people just love being negative.

Alright, since this is looking like it is actually going to happen (against all logic), I will try to get all the criticism out in this post and will try my best to back him and give him all the support that every player in Chelsea blue deserves. So here we go:

I genuinely hope that this transfer is a result of Jose wanting to do Jorge Mendez a favor or some shit like that because otherwise I would seriously start to doubt Jose's footballing judgement and his mental abilities in general. Why in the world would he want to sign last season's biggest flop of the league, otherwise?

Falcao last season seemed to have lost his scoring instinct as well as his much of his pace and physical abilities. What's worse is that his off the ball work was pretty bad as well so he literally offered next to nothing for utd. And before someone says that their system didn't suite him, how the hell do you know that ours would?!

Yes, he CLOUD regain his previous abilities, but that is hardly convincing. You can say literally about every striker on the market that he COULD come here and score 25 goals per season but what are the actual chances of that happening?!

The point is, we are not in a position where we need to take such risks, we already have two excellent strikers. If we are going to take such long shots then why not put faith in Patrick Bamford instead? I genuinely think HE is a lot more likely to surprise everyone and have a great season for us than Falcao.

Side note: Let's face it, most people who want this transfer feel that way because they bought into the incredible "El Tigre" hype he had a couple of years ago at Atletico. Basically, we are agreeing with Jose and the club taking an incredibly high risk, relatively low reward shot because of some shitty YouTube compilation videos and a silly nickname.

But without a doubt the worst part of this potential transfer would be if Remy asks to leave as a result. The guy is simply the best backup striker in the country and one of the best in Europe; he had many games where he was playing even better than Costa himself, his mins per goal ratio was ridiculous and more importantly a lot of his goals came at crucial moments. Swapping Remy for Falcao would be a HUGE step backwards and beyond a stupid decision by Jose and the board.

I'll leave it at that and not get into his wages, age, the shortsightedness of this transfer and his questionable decisions in joining Monaco and utd. If he signs, I will give him the full support from now till he's had sufficient time to prove himself and I would be absolutely delighted to be proven wrong about this transfer.

there are some significant differences to costa and falcao:

-yes costa had a poor world cup, but...

-costa had an amazing club season

-costa was coming off an injury that hadn't been given enough time to heal by all accounts

-falcao is having a poor copa america, but...

-falcao had a poor club season

-falcao's knee ligament injury has been "healed" for some time, so what you see is probably what you get

It sounded like you already can't wait to criticize Mourinho.

If Remy wants to leave so he could be assured for more game time, like some of this articles suggests, than it's about him, it's his career decision, not Chelsea's. Sorry if you don't like it, but my argument simply revolves around these facts:

Remy - Was an excellent back-up.

Bamford - Yet another excellent year and has the best chance out of the youth strikers, as highly rated as Solanke and Brown are, to actually break into the team.

Falcao - An absolutely atrocious season and completely stole a living at £250k+ a week.

So I can't wait to criticise is it? Are you saying I can't criticise because of those facts? Because if you are, I can tell you where to go...

The Falcao signing now threatens their positions, no matter how you want to look at it. Logically, it makes next to no sense, but people are still being blinded by a big fucking name.

And in case it wasn't clear, it is the person we are signing I do not agree with, I am not saying 'don't sign a striker'.

If we wanted mediocrity we could've just signed someone like Lambert as 3rd choice instead (without the ridiculous wages). We could go for Austin as no. 2 and sell Remy. If we're in for Griezmann, he has the ability to be 3rd choice as well. Fuck it, we could put our faith in Bamford for a change. Absolutely anything else, just as long as it makes logical sense. Just as long as we're 100% sure we're not relying on shite when Costa isn't there - which, let's face it, will be quite a lot of the time.

I don't want to go into the season with one arm tied behind our backs when Costa isn't there; if you can honestly look at Falcao from last season and feel confident, well, you're a very optimistic person to put it nicely.
