Tomo 21,751
Some people haven't learned their lesson from the torres debacle, I see.Bottom line: Falcao is finished. He's Torres 2.0. I just can't see him being lethal again.I just recovered from the Torres nightmare, I don't want another. He will never be another Torres nightmare even if he flops as bad.Torres was on a 180k a week long term deal, there was simply no way of getting rid of him and we were insistent on building the team around Torres because of the price tag.If Falcao comes on one year loan with reduced wages and flops he will spend most weeks in the stands while we play Costa and Remy so no big deal in the grand scheme of thing's and even if he could say give us a similar level of performance to what Eto'o gave us that wouldn't be too disastrous either. Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Lol some people are acting like we're gonna make him our record signing and make him our highest paid player. The only way this goes down is if he is cool with being a squad player on squad player wages.
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Monaco don't want to pay his wages anymore which is why they set up the loan this season to the most desperate club in the world and they'll try to do it again next season, we're not desperate. If Diego can have a successful operation on his hamstring and is thus expected to miss a lot less games, I'd be happy with Solanke as third choice. Else, Chicharito would be a brilliant third choice and offer us something different than both Diego and Remy. Madrid have not taken the option to sign him and utd don't want him so he'll be available for cheap. Well I don't think they have a choice since he's under contract. Falcao clearly has ambition and is motivated to find his game again, like I said if he has a decent Copa America I'd give him a look in... How bad could it be? I really doubt Jose will entrust a youth product with that role, I think he feels someone like Dom needs to be playing lots. Chica is interesting but I feel the risk/reward of Falcao is much higher, I see your point though there.
The Skipper 20,609
I don't mind him as a squad player on squad wages tbh. He's still okay enough to be our 3rd choice striker. That's if he's willing to come here under that.
LAM09 7,054
I can't see him coming here. His wages alone will be a major put off.
Mechromancer 262
Well, Drogba earned 100k per week. And that's a lot.If he can accept a similar salary, i suppose is okay if Mou want the trade.
mikeholiday 209
Actually, it MIGHT be a low risk, high reward move. THAT IS IF he takes a 100K+ pay cut and it's a small loan fee. Ive no idea how much Utd paid Monaco for him.
BlueLyon 9,359
I still dont know why did Monaco loan him out...they bought him for 50m or sth and they loan him out without obligation to buy. Quite a bad bussines if you ask me. They lost big player (considering no one knew how will he perform this season) and got nothing for it.Unless Monaco cant afford to pay his wages or United paid quite a lot money off the record for that loan.He was on like 250k per week. Even if he takes massive pay cut, he would still get around 150k which is waay too much for third striker or better say for someone who had such poor season. The only good thing is that he wants to take pay cut if he can play for big club again and try to prove himself. Could be good motivation. But apart from that, he is past it. Lost his pace and confidence, hard to gain that back.
Mechromancer 262
The salary is the main reason for his loan, i believe. The FFP just fucked everythingSo his contract is a big problem for the club who have the rights. And they don't have many options because exist a difference then and now; when he went to Manchester, the guy still had some cache, but now.... They and the player can't demand anything. Especially the club.
Madmax 9,219
I remember reading something about him being 'forced' to make the move a long time ago. So you think it's true? Didn't know what to make of it back then, but I guess it makes sense looking at his situation right now.Yeah, his hands were completely tied with the TPO deal he entered into while he was still in South America. Same goes for Atletico at the time of his sale to Monaco. Read the post nadavKTL linked above, it's the one I was talking about.

mikeholiday 209
United paid a 15-20 million pound loan fee.Wow.They bought a 4-goal striker for 15-20 million and sold him for zero.
special Eden 78
FALSE! The loan fee was 6£m… Romours saying we only would take Falcao on loan. 3£m loan fee and Falcao is willing to drop his wages to 150k. Not so bad.
TheOneChan95 225
Unless we are going to pay him even less than Drogs this season it will just not be worth it. He is just not going to be a Torres 2.0 if you try and expect loads of goals from him. But in his defence he probably won't go into hiding the way Torres did. I mean seriously somewhere on a United forum they are just praying for us to have him.

Pizy 18,909
Don't believe it, myself. Remy has proven that he can score goals time and time again. With Drogba gone you'd think he'd be our #2 option.Falcao on the other hand showed at United this season that he needs games to play well which he didn't get. He'd be parked on the bench for extended periods here as well and I doubt he'd voluntarily join as 3rd choice.Would be pretty fucked up if he's told he'll be 2nd choice and it screws Remy over. Against this potential signing personally.
MrExcalibur100 7,124
I don't know how to feel about this one. If he's 75% of the player he was for Atletico, then yes. He will get chances to score at Chelsea. Hazard and Fabregas between them created almost 200 chances in the PL this season, which is almost as much as the entire United team combined. But from the games I've seen him play at United, he looked a yard off the pace which is a concern. He's lost some of the agility he once had. Thendo 1,088
Would be a decent solution as 3rd/2nd striker for a year if he's open to lowering his wages. Bamford gets a Pl loan and hopefully does well enough to return the season after.
