The initial signs are good IMO. He seems to have that directness/dribbling combo we needed. He seems a little nervous and doesn't a grest understanding with the rest of his teammates yet, which is perfectly normal considering he's just arrived. Also a pretty willing worker, which is nice.

Don't think he'll be much of a goal scorer, he'll get his, but not at a really high rate. However, Juan seems to have the remaining skills that were necessary... Will be worth the tradeoff for Schurrle I think.

PS: those corners... Very much Chelsea-like. [emoji23]

His hold up play has not been convincing at all, rather Willian than him at the moment when we are in a tight situation and we need to hold the ball up

Well, he has played less than 200 minutes so it's a given he wouldn't have the same understanding with our teammates. Plus Willian is in great form right now.

I know what you mean, but its an observation that I have made, he losses the ball way more than he retains it, to be fair to him its only a small sample to judge from, hopefully he improves that aspect of his game sooner rather than later if he is to be of much use for this season atleast

Too early to judge but this thread is quiet for a reason...he is doing nothing noteworthy yet. I want to see his WC form, atm he just looks like a worse Willian bar that header which the GK was always gonna save anyway. Just hope it doesn't take him too long to settle in, really don't want him to become a Willian/Ramires hybrid.

Needs time, I think it's obvious that he wants to be the player who doesn't make a mistake more than the player who stands out, this attitude will change when he's more comfortable.

Also the Italian league to PL is insane in the differences.

Aston villa, Everton and PSG were largely useless games to go by

I don't know if he was operating under some instructions to keep pushing through the middle...never seemed to make an attempt to beat the wide man and put in a cross. In fact, I recall only 1 cross from him the entire game (which led to a corner).

Also, I don't know why we never attempt to do something basic, like push out wide and swing in a cross. Now we have a player that can do it and he just tries to exchange passes through the middle. Whereas teams like United keep swinging in crosses like mad.

That's not really working out for them.

Our main striker who would be the one getting those crosses to him is Diego Costa, who is too small and doesn't have that aerial ability needed.

I know, they are an extreme case, but that doesn't mean we have to be the polar opposite. Costa is far from below average when coming to heading and height is NOT an excuse. The lad is only an inch shorter than Terry and Drogba. And I'm not just talking about high crosses, I'm talking about low ones, cutbacks, et al.
