zolayes 14,489
Top 3 GKs are Neuer, Courtois and Cech, no one else comes close to them IMO. Some gap between them and the rest.the gap to Schwarzer isnt that big
The Skipper 20,609
the gap to Schwarzer isnt that bigYeah maybe not. Guess we could make it a top 4 of Neuer, Courtois, Cech and Schwarzer then. zolayes
Myself 793
I think Buffon still got it to be there. That being said, GK lists are a bit weird, aside from like... the three best goalkeepers at the time, most of the other names seem to come down to personal preference since most are close in skill but they all have slightly different styles, strengthness and weakness. Completely forgot about Buffon. I'd probably put him in over Asenjo, but then again there's Weiderfeller, Enyeama and Sirigu who I left out, who in my opinion are all better than Buffon currently. imo Lloris, Cech, Neuer, and Courtois have to make up the top 4, no doubt about it Dion

Some gap between them and the rest.Stick Buffon in that list and I totally agree. There are a lot of "good" goalkeepers in the world right not, but only four world-class ones. For instance:World-class - Cech, Neuer, Thibaut, BuffonVERY Good - Weidenfeller, Lloris, etc.Good - Sirigu, de Gea, Leno, Mandanda, etc. The Skipper

MrBlueGuy 1,552
Buffon is at least 2 seasons past it now imo, Juve aren't tested enough in their league. Give him in the BPL now I doubt he will be keeping many clean sheets. He is just the same state as Casillas, albeit without the fuck ups at the WC and CL Final to hurt his reputation. Also De Gea was the best GK in BPL in 12-13, I am sure he is more than 'good' especially when you are comparing him to Mandanda

The same for Diego Lopez. The rest are "good" goalkeepers, besides Hart, who I'd rank as average at best. The Skipper 20,609
Szczesny is not a better keeper than De Gea.I'd put them in the same bracket actually. De Gea is a very good goalkeeper but right now he has a mess of a system ahead of him so naturally he's very exposed.

Pretty average IMO, Liverpool would do well to replace him with someone like Lloris for example. Footballover 222
That tweet from Cech What an absolute LEGEND this guy is, I really adore him! He came to be a "silent hero" in an era of players like Didier and Lamps. He gave so much for this club and not a single complaint, I can't remember him wanting to leave or something close to it in 10 years in which he has served this club. I am really glad he decided to stay even though he had every right to pursue first team football which he could easily find elsewhere. I truly believe he can help the team, even if not directly on the field.I wish the fans chanted his name more, he deserves it.

I'm not saying Mark isn't a good back up, he is, just Cech is even better and affordable after some great business by the club.

I'm curious to know - subjectively speaking, do you (and/or other coaches you come across) place more emphasis on the things done right, or the things not done wrong? Orthodoxy (Textbook goalkeeping) vs Effectiveness?
