Stats 7,147
That's because, if we're winning, Didier can hold up the ball and defend set pieces and, if we're losing, Didier offers a different direct dimension to our play. Come on. That was not the reason for bringing on Dider today imo. We had a man advantage and Costa can hold the ball up well anyway. Drogba was brought on because right now he is the second choice striker. I would have rather Remy come on simply because we have not seen him play enough minutes in a Chelsea shirt and assuming he is content will be here longer than Drogba. Costa may not do it as well but he is good at holding up the ball and Remy can stretch defences. It was highly unlikely that Hull would attack us after that red card anyway. Actually, if you watch Jose's post-match interviews (especially with CTV) he always gives those reasons to why he brought Drogba on in a certain match. Costa's hold-up play is amateurish compared to Didier, especially linking up with his back to goal. Same for winning first headers when we want to go direct like we did against Newcastle. Costa actually has pretty good hold-up play, DD is better, no doubt, but not to the point Costa's is amateurish compared. Really, really, really harsh imo.If Remy starts the match against Derby, then I'll see no problem with him being ignored yesterday. If he doesn't, then I'm somewhat disappointed with how has been giving him chances. He's been reduced to the Ba role from last season. Ba was only used more often towards the end of the season, when he scored in the UCL, against Liverpool, etc... earlier in the season he was seldom used. I understood the reasoning behind Ba's limited chances based on his style. But it makes no sense to me that Remy has been seeing so little playing time. But José is seeing him on trainings, maybe there's something happening that we don't know.We had no idea Schurrle was sick, maybe Remy hasn't been producing more than DD in the trainings and let's be fair and honest, after a shaky start when he couldn't even complete a decent pass and struggling with a few physical issues, DD rose. He's been playing very well if you ask me.
The Skipper 20,609
Remember when people said he was a marginal upgrade (even on par with) to Torres and Ba? Barbara
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
Not making the bench, and not even on the first page of our current squad I think Remy just might have hit on Mourinho's wife/daughter in front of him lol
BlueLyon 9,359
UNLESS he is injured, what is the point of having such players in team if Mou doesnt use them? I dont give a shit if he banged Mou daughter infront of him, as long he can benefit to the team, Mou should play him, regardless of whatever the two think of each other. DH1988 1,348
If given the choice between him and Drogba for a spot in the team or bench today I'd of picked Drogba seeing how I thought West Ham might play or play in the last ten minutes, now after the game it was tailor made for Remy. Hindsight. Chill.
LAB 1,030
Drogba does also a good job defending during the last 5-10 minutes of a second half, so it's not simply Drogba 2nd Remy 3rd because of striking abilities. Sometimes Jose prefers to sub Drogba for other reasons also. Remy is in a tough situation though but he handles it well i suppose.
Barbara 15,149
He has years under contract for us, his chances will come, if not much this season, definitely next.I feel for him, but it's not the end of the world.Ba was scarcely used in the first half of the season and then he was played at the end of the season and even scored some very important goals.Remy's moment will come, sooner or later. Also, DD has been doing a great job, so you can't simply ignore that.I'm positive he'll be in the squad for the League Cup match because we'd have played a plethora of games in the last ten days and the players will be very tired. Kieran. 6,317
"Against West Ham I had to leave out Remy, Salah and Ake, people who are working a lot to have an opportunity, so it's a good problem for me."So he isn't injured.

Remy will just have to wait for Watford, I'm afraid.

MrExcalibur100 7,124
The way Remy's been treated this season is very bizarre. He couldn't even get a sniff during the busy Christmas period. Styles
Stats 7,147
As soon as Drogba joined I knew he would be second choice regardless of Remy joining. Mourinho made it clear that he was signing Drogba with a view to making history with the club and not based on past sentiments. He stated this: "He’s coming because he’s one of the best strikers in Europe". Mourinho clearly was going to have more trust in him than Remy. BlueLion. 21,491
It's only for the short-term, though. Unless we end up going and signing a genuinely quality striker like Doumbia in the next two transfer windows, then Remy will be our second choice forward in the long-term. He'll get more chances when Schurrle/Salah are inevitably farmed off on loan in Jan.
Tomo 21,751
He was initially second choice, he started both the Palace and Marinbor games but then he picked up an injury and since then Didier has been playing well.
