The black hole when it comes to strikers and Chelsea, I will say 14 goals next season but hoping for many, many more.

He needs the same support we gave to Torres whether we like him or not.

CAREFREE!!!

so only 13 more all season? yikes!

One aspect that i know we all love but hasn't really been touched upon was his pressing. My days, he is relentless, and the way he instructs his team-mates to do the same is phenomenal. There were a few times where he'd press and Hazard and Co. just watched him, which understandably got him upset, but over time our AMs will have to follow his lead.

His instinct to make runs and press is triggered by certain opposition movements - back passes, square passes between defenders, throw-ins, bad touches/miscontrols etc. Simeone's coaching shows.

Seems like he just about shaved that Burnley defender's nuts off

Don't like to bash on Torres too much in a Costa thread but Torres would of tried to do a fake shot then and go past the defender in front on him, one of his biggest problems is attempting to do too much at times.

I said this in pre season so this isn't a knee jerk based on tonight but I have honestly not been do convinced about a signing for so long, this guy has everything to succeed especially in our system.

Cesc+Fabregas+Olimpija+Ljubljana+v+Chels

:Goober:

But I agree, a fabulous debut from both of our new big money signings.

there are 3 Burnleys around Costa and 4 around Hazard, which left 3 to cover our other 8!

This is the importance of a striker with fear factor, the defenders can't ignore him like torres. If they mark out hazard and Costa at the same time, the rest of the team is free to cause damage. If they ignore him, he bursts someone's nuts

Don't want to be a party pooper, but he's a bit shit in the air. Launched like 30 balls to him (shouldn't have done so much of this in the first place, we should try to play out the back more) and he barely won any headers, like 2 or 3 at most.

Other than that, his hold-up play when played to feet was excellent and his passing was great, he has pretty great vision imo.

Its why Drogba is back and why Ivanovic will still get loads of games at RB. He's not really a target man.

I think this signing will do a lot for Chelsea FC.

I wrote an article on it which can be found at the above web address. It would mean a lot if you would read it and leave some feedback.

I wouldn't say he's shit, he isn't amazing at it though. If he's in the box he attacks a cross pretty well though.

Reminded me a little of Suarez the way hunted and harassed the defenders on Monday. Loved the way he chased nigh on every back pass to their keeper, not only that but he never gave their back-line a moments peace.

Can't wait to see more of him.

He could learn from Drogba.

His hold up play has been class so far. Nice to see that when we play it up to him, into his feet or wherever, he holds it up very well and brings others into play. We've lacked that in a striker in previous seasons. Eto'o was decent enough at doing it last season hence why he was preferred a lot of the time in the big games. But with Costa it looks like (fingers crossed) we've got that class striker we've been lacking.
