Mohamed Salah

He's allowed to have a quiet game without the manager losing faith and it has done wonders for his confidence. Very happy for him, he seemed like a very good guy. Fun player to watch.

Don't think he has a future at Chelsea so I wish him good luck.

Thanks Jason.

This is really disappointing since it sounds like we are locked in to the loan agreement for next season. We can only hope that Moh maintains his form and preserves his value through next season. Unless he further increases it of course. :)

It's Fiorentina that came with an idea to take him on loan ? Or we were the ones who offered that ?

I personally think that was Viola with such thoughts. And we gave him without hesitation, but they probably have watched him on several occasions and liked what they saw.

When Chelsea bought David Luiz they offered Matic in part-exchange without a tear dropped. But Benfica have watched Matic several times and didn't take him without extensive scouting.

It's funny when those clubs see better players in them than Chelsea even though they're their own players.

Money surplus and desire to win trophies make "big" clubs worry less about developing players, they need a complete end product with exactly the specific skill set they want to play a specific role they want and nothing less

It's crucial to note that it isn't a season and half long loan. He's loaned there till the end of this season with an option to extend the loan for another year and then an option to buy. If he doesn't want to go there next season there is nothing forcing him.

Fiorentina have triggered their option to extend Mohamed Salah’s loan from Chelsea into next season before buying him on a permanent basis.

Salah has scored seven goals since joining Fiorentina from Chelsea until the end of the season and the Italians have agreed to pay the £1.5 million fee it will take to keep the Egyptian next season. At the end of next season, Fiorentina can buy Salah for around £18m.

Thanks Choulo,

What is concerning me is the implication in the recent comments coming out of Fiorentina. Those comments make it sound like Fiorentina's options are watertight and that they can exercise them unilaterally. It sounds like they feel the extension of the loan is at their discretion, subject only to Moh's agreement, not Chelsea's.

Obviously I hope that we've negotiated some flexibility into the deal. For example, €1m never sounded like a good loan fee for next season but, based on Moh's start in Serie A, it now represents a considerable amount less than his market value. I don't mind if Moh stays at Fiorentina next season but, if he does, I'd like it to be at the right price.

Ideally I'd like us to be able to make Moh available for loan or sale across the whole market to achieve the best move for him, and the best compensation for ourselves. Fiorentina seem to think we've signed away that right.

£18m certainly sounds a lot closer to market value than €13m. A lot closer. Am I remembering correctly though that the original source for the €1m loan/€13m transfer figures was Fiorentina themselves? If so that would maybe make it more likely that the numbers are correct.

My understanding (from all I've read and most importantly from a very famous Lebanese beIN journalist in Italy who talks to Salah all the time and has disclosed the terms of the deal as Mo has told him) is that is exactly the case. If Fiorentina and Salah both agree the loan and then the transfer at the end of next season, there is very little our board can do.

Conflicting reports. I read they can sign him for £9.5m plus addons.

Check what Hussien Yassine wrote about the deal.

IRRC, it's 1.5m for the loan and then 18m for buying. All in Euros.
