Chelsea v Man City

I can't agree with how superior you're making them sound, @CHOULO19.

I'm not even sure their squad is superior to ours, let alone as superior as you're making them to be. Those are the guys who lost to Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago... Their best this season may be better than our best this season, but why should we think they'll play their best against us in our turf? Why should we fear them, if it's them who are coming to our stadium when we have scored 14 goals in the last 4 matches, and have been showing progress in each of those matches? They got their butt properly kicked by Bayern in their turf, whereas we played a very competitive match against them this season and only lost it in a very unfortunate penalty-kick (most of it with one less man).

I'm not saying this is going to be easy or that we're going to win no matter what nor am I underestimating City, but the way some people talk about them is a bit overboard imo. Yeah, we haven't beaten them in almost 3 years now. Both teams are going through a transition, with new players and under new management and while they seem to have had brighter moments than us this season, they're still behind us in the table, they aren't nearly the end product yet and if we lose, then we lost (we lost to Basel and I'm sure we aren't the much inferior team compared to them), but given many comments in this thread (not only yours) one would think we'd be playing Barcelona at their peak tomorrow...

A lot of negative vibes here ,but this is Stamford Bridge and this is Chelsea under Mourinho on a good run and full of confidence nothing less than a win is expected ,we will be taking the game to City like Bayern did, they like to play at their own pace.

.Our three AM's with Eto'o and Torres both on form ,Lampard and Rammy forming a very good partnership and our well organised back four with Petr as good as ever will be very confident of winning this game at home ,we should have no worries about them at all. By the time Jose has finished his team talk our players will believe winning is a formality and a matter of course. It will not have ecaped Jose's attention that they played in Russia on Weds ,we need to press them and have no fear. This is all about us.

I hope the boys prove me wrong. Komapny is blow to their defense, but we'll need a couple of Silva, Toure and Aguero to be having an off day. The problem with City is that they have too many threats to mark.

as they say, in Jose we trust ? :getin:

Mourinho full of praise about Yaya toure, saying he is complete midifelder.

He's just being diplomatic. Wouldn't expect him to say otherwise would you?

Offensively, think we all know the abilities of Toure but defensively, he's rubbish and lazy. If you get past him, he will usually just clumsily foul you or sometimes don't even bother doing that. He doesn't really track back much and help his team to defend really.

Lazy? Yeah, but I'd hardly say he's rubbish at tracking back and playing defensive when he's arsed to though.

It really depends on which yaya shows up. If he's in it then he is pretty much unplayable. If he's jaded, then I think Ramires and Mikel are enough to keep him quiet for spells.

For a player of his quality and ability...yeah. Flatters to deceive defensively.

And of course nobody will look rubbish at tracking back and help to defend if they bother but like I said, Toure can never seem to bother himself with that.

Always same from you.

How is that?

9/10 games this season I've said we are going to win, I'm one of the few who knows we can win the Premier League not getting sucked into this stupid Arsenal and Liverpool hype.

Because when both teams are at their best, City are by far better. No one in the league comes close to the football that City can play when they are at their best, the kind of football that they played at OT this season. If they play like they did at OT, we honestly can't match their tempo and abilities; their squad is simply better. Plus City tend to have developed a knack of playing their best games against us in recent years.

If you factor in that we have 7-8 consecutive relatively easy, all winnable, matches in the league after this one, yeah, I'll chop your hand off right now for a boring 0-0 draw.

By far? if anything a little bit, but by far? we finished 3 points behind them last season, the Ethiad game was the difference between the two teams, and that was with a paper thin squad and Benitez, we now have a strong squad and Mourinho.

Whether they may be better is debatable, but if they are better than us, it's no way by the considerable distance you're making out.

City are a very good team and will be up there, but that good we should be frightened off playing them at home? no chance.

I'm not talking about who is better or who will finish above the other, I'm talking about when both teams are at their best ; meaning the best football that either team has produced. And in that regards, City are capable of producing a higher level of football than we have showed so far. They can't do it at a regular basis which is why I think we will finish above them.

At their best, I don't think anyone in the league can match the attacking power of CIty or the tempo at which they move the ball.
