28 dead, including 20 children, in school shooting

It's not the guns that bring a person to kill other people.

England, where no one has guns: 14 deaths. United States, and I think you know how we feel about guns - whoo! I'm gettin' a stiffy! - 23,000 deaths from handguns. But there's no connection, and you'd be a fool and a comunist to make one. There's no connection between having a gun and shooting someone with it, and not having a gun and not shooting someone

Restricting guns wont solve all the problem. It will certainly help, but the massacres will continue (maybe on a slower pace).

Drugs are illegal and it doesnt stop people from getting to it. Guns are illegal past .40mm in Brazil and a 18 year old boy knows how to get one...

Tbf I doubt people would start organizing massacres as often with knives, baseball bats or whatnot. You would be apprehended much quicker and you could kill far less than with a gun. Plus those cunts also usually kill themselves after doing it, it would be difficult to stab yourself or whatnot, shooting others and yourself is the easiest and most cowardly way to do it.

WTF? They will still use guns...

What I was saying is that making guns illegal just for the sake of it wont help. USA Goverment really needs to want to ban it, otherwise it will be only for media praise.

Example: Drugs are illegal, but there is no real control (since it is highly profitable) and anyone can get it. I bet everyone who is in Collge knows someone who sells it.

Example 2: Brazil does not allow that civilians carry guns, but it is not difficult to obtain/buy one illegally. Even though, we dont have the same shooting scandals as USA (although we do have a lot of homicides).

I believe it is a cultural issue, a lot needs to be done and changed for us to get into a slightly safe society. Gun restriction is an important aspect of it, but dont fool yourselfs thinking it will stop it or prevent people from getting their hands into it.

I agree with the cultural issue part. I for one think it is sheer lunacy to still have CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTION over your right to have a gun. That is absurd. However I do feel that simply making them illegal won't help. There's no clear or easy explanation for why this happens in the US this frequently.

True, but it's better than doing nothing. You can't say for sure that it wouldn't prevent at least one massacre.

I agree!

I am in favour of doing so and I believe it would prevent some of the shooting (specially the ones done by teenagers, aka: Columbine), but it isnt enough.

Guns are a lot easier to control than drugs. People can make drugs in their backyard or in their kitchen. Do you know people who grow their own weed? I do. Making a gun and bullets is extremely difficult. You need them to be manufactured The US will never ban guns, but the easy access of people to guns IS the problem. They just don't want to admit it. I hate how the media covers this stuff. It's always "victims and heroes", personal interest stories, rather than any serious discussion as to why this happens so frequently in the US. The distance from Toronto to the States is about 100 miles, but sometimes it feels like we're oceans apart.

How weak minded does someone have to be to attack children, what a bitch, GODDD this pisses me off so much, the schools was K-5 so it was children who were 5-10 years of age. The sad thing is I can't think of anything to do to stop stuff like this.

Easy access to guns is ONE of the problems, not THE problem. I reckon it is a big one, but not THE one.

Like I said previously, if someone really wants a gun, one will be able to get it. I know it will be harder and it will prevent a lot of deaths (not just from big shootings), but we will still see those sad news if this would be the only change to be done.

It is easier to control the fabrication of the guns (in comparisson with drugs), but it is not close to easy to control its distribution. If USA decides it will ban guns to general people, it will not do anything to prevent belic brands to manufacture weapons (I would be extremely suprised if they do). Anyone wanting a gun would have to buy it by illicit means, but they would still get it.

In the end, it will improve safety by a mile, but it wont be all flowers!

At this rate I don't see how banning guns won't be beneficial in some way or the other.
