Last year Handguns Killed: 48 People in Japan, 8 Great Britain, 34 Switzerland, 52 Canada, 58 Israel, 21 Sweden, 10,728 in The United States

The difference is staggering. When you think all of the inner city issues in every city in the UK, England and Scotland, the gun murder is very rare, which is why the press go full tilt when it happens.

Up here in Glasgow, The city has a well deserved fearsome reputation, but, for all that, Gun crime is pretty much zilch, aside from one crime family taking out another. The neds aint walking around with shooters up here and I think are a million miles from that. They still tend to go down the more quaint, traditional route of baseball bats, cutlasses, knifes and any general item you can hold easily and clump someone with :wank2:

If there were guns here I'd probably shoot at people about 3 times a week. Can you imagine all the brains and blood dripping down the walls in Wetherspoons at 11pm on Friday ?

The Guardian seems to suggest there are 3.4 million civilian firearms in the UK....http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2012/jul/22/gun-homicides-ownership-world-list

Absolutely huge amount if true, I wonder if they include air rifles and such as firearms

Look, I'm not denying anything, all I'm trying to say is that there's so much more content in this story than fucking guns. Guns are just a means to an end, but what's this end? Stopping this free trading of guns is the first step to prevent more of these horrible massacres but it's not the last one.

In a few month's time it will be 14 years since Columbine happened, but what changed?

Fuck all. And nothing will change, the arms lobby and the NRA are too powerful in the US. Weapons and pornography are a massive capitalist business in the US.

The sad thing is the rest of the world are getting 'bored' with these massacres, they are happening all too often, and there will be another school shooting spree in a few months. Maybe this is what the weapons manufacturers want, a desensitizing to gun violence-which lets face it is a fucking cowards weapon

Just imagining Millwall v West Ham 1978, same gun legislation as Texas. Gun shops all down the Old Kent Road, Bushwhackers on Deptford Bridge with assault rifles, tube trains being sprayed with automatic fire at Bermondsey.....

Puts it into perspective

And they reckon they are the world's police force :D Probably THE most fucked up country in the planet.

Again, and I mean every word, truly, truly heartbroken to the Children, staff, etc who cruelly lost their lives yesterday but we all know what happens next. Countless US Politician's gravely shake their head and condemn the killers action................then do absolutely fuck all about it. The politicians should be held responsible for allowing this to carry on regardless.

Maybe the only way to combat this in America is to pass law that, until all guns are banned, every time an atrocity such as this happens, one of the parents who lost a son/daughter should be allowed to walk into the senate, tooled up, and slot the first five politicians she chooses, that might bring about a change methinks. :wank2:

The waste of life is just disgusting... Can't begin to imagine what it would be like to be a parent/teacher/kid that is associated with that school. I am glad we have no such constitutional rights to "bear arms" that enable the massacre of innocents. People have a right to feel safe at home and school, these killings are becoming very frequent and I am genuinely worried for society. Does make you think: what drives these people to do crazy shit like this?

They should only give guns to the police force and military, or people who have an extremely valid reason i.e. farmers can get a shotgun in the uk but before that they should THOUROGHLY SCREEN EVRYONE!!! People will still get their hands on guns but there would be a hell of a lot less of them and it would drastically reduce those numbers.

It won't happen because guns are so widespread now that they wouldn't be able to recover them all and so many people have them. Also witht the amount of weapons they have i am sure there will be thousands of businesses that would go out of business which is also why i can't see them changing everything. But someone has to see that there is something wrong with a system when a random bloke can wander into Walmart (ASDA...) pick up a packet of cheese and onion crisps and a fucking shotgun...
