That maybe true but think it has reached the point where people aren't going to be easily swayed and praise his performance. Credit where it's due for yesterday yes but we have seen from Torres before, does well in a game (against lesser opponents mostly!) and then when we play him in the next few games, he goes missing altogether. We have had many false dawns with this fella already.

You have a point here, but as Mourinho said earlier about Mata, the past isn´t interesting. If Torres played and fought (and even scored) for the team against Bayern and Swindon, then they should start him against Tottenham. It´s simple as that.

Since Eto'o has been signed, he has started against Everton, Basel and Fulham. It's clear who he rates as his No.1 and Mourinho is likely to go with his tried and trusted players on Saturday as opposed to taking the risk on someone who blows hot and cold consistently.

The fact remains still that Torres has two more goals than Etoo in lesser games played (Correct me if I´m wrong here). I´m not saying that Etoo isn´t a better player than Torres, but at the moment, one of our strikers actually score. Use him instead of someone who hasn´t.

people know the story of last 2 years and yet want to repeat the same old mistake of judging him based on one good performance against a pub team so that he can start a match against tottenham at white hart lane. seems fair!!!

etoo has done everything torres did. his link up play against better opponents than swindon has been good, he has got into scoring positions against those sides, does not lose half as many balls as torres. so i feel etoo deserves to continue starting for us and i feel after 2 and a half year, its high time, we give some1 else half as many oppurtunities as we have been willing to give torres (and still do) in that time frame.

He was brought to score goals against high caliber opposition nearly every time he has faced them, so far he was scored once each against Barcelona (when all their players were almost in our penalty area), Arsenal, Man.Utd and Bayern. When you invest that highly in a player you expect goals against those teams pretty regularly.

the man does his job (against a lower team, who cares) and he is slated. Yet if he didn't he would be slated as well.

IDC if he scores off of a mistake every weekend, a goal is a goal. And he has been in fine form. We haven't looked as good as we did against hull city and bayern. Then he gets dropped, we lose games, Torres somehow still gets blamed (idk how) and then he comes on and does his job and he is still "shit".

I'm just going on what we've seen this season so far.

Nando has made three starts and scored twice and assisted once in those appearances. Very healthy statistics as far as I'm concerned.

It's not by much, but he's currently our best striker but Jose seems to believe that if he gives Eto'o a run of games he'll become better. So, let's see how that pans out.
