If we get into one of those horror groups, it will be tough. Really tough.
It takes many matches to get into the right flow with all these new players.

------------Werner
Pulisic-Havertz-Ziyech
--------Mount-Kante
BC-Zoum-Silva-Azpi
------------Mr. X

6 new players in the starting eleven. That takes time. Pre season is short. I do not expect that much chemistry in the starting eleven til winter

a double pivot of Kante and Mount will never work

Kante's partner needs to be the deeper-lying, actual DMF which frees up Kante to raom and destroy (if he can stay healthy)

that is never going to be Mount

Rice, yes. Mount no, Jorginho no (he is shot defensively), Kova no

we have no idea partner for Kante atm unless Conor Gallagher explodes onto the scene or Ampadu does the same or we buy Rice and use him there

and if Lamps rams Kante back into that RMF role, it is going to blow up in his face just like it often did last year

I am sure he will be constantly injured again anyway

he needs to be sold ASAP

finally Rüdiger will start over the clumsy ball watcher Zouma more often than not I predict, or we might (would prefer this), bring in another CB, like Milan Škriniar or even Dunk

Zouma and Ac really need to be shipped out whilst we still can get decent cash for them

killer lineup. Can Mason play in a double pivot tho?
The only sides i really dont wanna face in CL are bayern and PSG the others i think we can somewhat manage. Esp real and juventus are in such disarray we should be able to compete.
Me personally, I do not think that Mason can play that role, but the way I know Lampard, Mount has to play somewhere.
I would prefer Kovacic instead of Mount in that role and he should be able to play that

Super short team. Set pieces defense will be a nightmare.

Take the keeper out since we don't know who that will be, the average height of the other 10 players is 179.8 cm, which is only 1 cm shorter than Liverpool's usual starting XI, excluding Alisson. And they aren't bad at defending set pieces. If anything I'd worry more about the physicality of that side as opposed to the height.

Did you missed his extension today?

Yes, I had not seen that. Well fuck. I was a big fan for years. Saw far too many monster, bullying games from him not to think he would have instantly become our best CB, pending further buys.

Average is not important. Having multiple players taller than 6 feet is and who are fierce defenders is. In that lineup posted, there are only 2, Havertz (far from a thumping beast) and Zouma (poor at positioning and spatial awareness, plus a very bad header as he misses so many). Thiago Silva is the same height as I am, and would be the key player at only 1.83m.

The point is teams like Liverpool don't have that many giants either. Only Gomez, Van Dijk, Alisson and Fabinho are taller than 185 cm. The rest are lower than that and some are even around 175 cm. Man City are also another example of a so called small team in terms of height. Of course in the Premier League, we would need some tall players in the squad but we can't turn our squad into a Tony Pulis side and equally or more importantly, you want players who are physical and don't mind battling it out for the ball. We currently have some tall players in the squad but they can be a bunch of pussies in physical challenges.

we do not even have Havertz yet

so place in Kovacic

even if you add in Alonso

still only 2 players over 6 feet, plus Thiago

the bindippers have the 2nd best goalkeeper in the world, and you left out yet another tall player they have, who is great at defence on headers, the piece of shit Hendo, plus Firmino, at 5-11, and who is a great leaper and is also superb at defensive headers That is 5 versus our 3, counting Thiago (and in that lineup, Havertz is hardly, at this point, super strong) Their 5 are so much better than our 3, as is their goalkeeper

Why did you even mention Thiago if you said we don't even have Havertz yet?

Anyway, height is just one aspect of defending set pieces. If the players don't have the balls to even defend properly, then there is no point, even if they have the height.

Thiago is more likely than Havertz at this point I think

and I was also speaking about this past season

so should have placed AC or Rudiger in for Thiago

we are dogshit on free and corners kicks

and the blame TRULY lies at Lampard's feet

that said, having a fairly small team doesn't help

in the speculative teams I build, height is never an issue, and if Lampard cannot sort the free/corner kick shite, and also the defence overall, he will be sacked during this coming season I fear

But average height mean very little. You can have 6 very short player  and 4 tall player and be good at defending set pieces.

Pool has their two cb + fabinho who all are strong in the air. Plus wijnaldum, mane, firmino are very good in the air for their height.

Based on what i saw most team usually has minimum of 3 aerially good player for set pieces, 4 is better. They just put them zonally in the middle (the most dangerous area). So Kai havertz is better be absolute monster in the air.

City also play 3 tall players, 2 cb + Rodri.

Plus city probably concede the least amount of corner or dangerous indirect free kick in the league. (This is purely a guess by me due to how they play)

Even then, don't think they concede many from set pieces.
