That's why it's daft to complain about a tough group. It's not like after it'll be a easy ride. Luck of the draw and like someone said on the BBC site if want a easy group play in Europe..

The UCL is a dead competition now because only these 6 teams can win it.

In order of strongest.

1. Real Madrid , 2. Barcelona , 3. Bayern Munich , 4. PSG, 5. Juventus, 6. Atletico Madrid.

So that means Chelsea fans.

Stop caring about or worrying about how we do in it.Be realistic.

CFC has no chance.

Too easy to say that's the case though. I mean, we all know the real competition in a tournament doesn't begin until the knockout stage. The group stage is supposed to be a procession. I mean sure, with the way the pots have been allocated in the Champions League, some clubs are bound to get harder draws but ideally, you want to get an easy group because you do not want to suffer the disappointment of being knocked out early or knocked out in the stupidest/smallest of margins. Remember how we came third in 2012/13 group all because Shakhtar scored one away goal more than us in the head-to-head matches? Also recall there was a season where Arsenal, Dortmund and Napoli all ended up with the same number of points in the group and Napoli missed out on qualification due to lowest GD (IIRC) in the head-to-head mini league. And not to mention, you also want an easy group so that it doesn't take too much of the team for the league games.

Well PSG could n't possibly up until now and Juve was considered a spent force CL-wise.
Whether Atletico retain the sparkle we shall see (but they will be reinforced with Diego later on ... :D).
Granted it's a tough assignment to recreate 2012, but the teams who make the right moves in the transfer market can always make it.

i understand where you are getting at, but sometimes i think its better to have a tough group, i know its not a given, but this way the team doesnt get complacent and keeps focused troughout the group stage, we´ve seen along the years us dropping silly points to the likes of Genk, Maribor, Basel, etc when we think its a walk in the park, only to get a shock result, altough it had no effect in the end because we managed to qualify in all those times. Its 2 sides of a coin, it can go your way when you have an easy group or it can backfire badly, ( ex. United in 2011/2012), these types of scenarios can happen a lot in the Champions League if you let your guard down.

Its not like its the 1st time we had to deal with League and Champions League games in between, ok we had bigger squads back then and could mantain a title challenge and reach the latter stages of the Champions League, but now we have the issue of lack of squad depth and i get where the worries are coming from, even more because of the games we have to play as posted here already, this is all on the board who know what the team needs and are taking too damn long to make decisions. Cheers

a lot has changed since 2012.Chelsea can no longer compete or get the players that those 6 teams I mentioned because of our board and strict transfer and wage budget restrictions that Roman Abramovich.

Look at the players we could of had the club didn't want to spend that few extra million.

We can't attract the players Atletico can? What planet are you on. As for Real, Barca, Bayern etc even when we were lavishly spending we struggled to attract players they wanted (ala Ronaldinho, Deco).

A perfectly rational point of view. Problem is, being a football supporter challenges rationality.

As Chelsea fans, we are capable of understanding that the six teams you list, plus a few others probably, are better than we are. Are we equally capable however of being indifferent about whether Chelsea win or lose? Can we really get to a place where we don't care? I don't think so, but even if we could, how could we avoid at least hoping that our team will win every time it plays?
