I wish most of our players cared enough to look like that after a defeat

I'm pretty sure you could get pics like that from the finale against United or the Barca match with Ovrebo, although the latter one might be full of people destroying stuff more than sitting down and hating football.

It's just nice to know that that is FC Barcelona, the greatest team ever with the greatest player ever (possibly) and WE did that to them. Just knowing that was caused by US feels so fucking good. There's nothing sweeter in the whole world than revenge.

The right attitude. The attitude that should exist in the dressing room of a big club, even though their commitment fell away towards the end of Pep's reign, that they react like that to a defeat is the character of true champions. Their reaction this season has been the perfect response, the football they produced last night was something from an entirely different planet and was as good as they have been in a long time, their hunger back, a point to prove, this group of players have stepped up and are producing the goods once again. Champions to the core and it will take something truly remarkable to stop them winning the Champions League this season.

I think the current Dortmund form might be that kind of remarkable. That would be such a fantastic match, even as a neutral. They should be able to beat most of the other european league champions in their current form though, especially this mediocre (which is still pretty good don't get me wrong) Madrid. That being said, if more teams play to their weakness like Celtic or we did last season, I don't know if they can innovate enough to crack it. They're still playing tiki-taka, and not always better than before. Though I also don't know if any current team is desperate enough about their current position in the CL to bring that bus on.

Leo Messi: "There are players here who hate Chelsea more than Real Madrid, I never thought I would hear myself say that."

"I also never thought I would see something worse than the Boca and River Plate rivalry or Brazil v Argentina - but this is.

"We would rather play Arsenal, Manchester United or anyone else than be on the pitch with Chelsea."

Hehe.

Hahaha, Hope it hurt them. They were like this, after we eliminated them fair and square. A solid team performance...

They eliminated us in 2009 by a scabby last-minute goal, after we'd had several obvious penalty's turned down.. Just imagine what our changing room was like back then!

I have to say I'm surprised at the amount of spite aimed at the Barca team by some of the 'supporters' in this thread. Or maybe I'm not.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for that Barcelona team, as I do for most of our opponents. Seeing them devastated isn't something that I get off on particularly. I tend to focus on the joy of my own players and support.

Yes I realise I'm no my high horse and all that, but this type of spite and schadenfreude isn't a quality I particularly like. Sorry about the tiny rant but I honestly don't think it reflects well on this club and I hate it when other fans use that picture of John Terry in tears after the CL Final to attack him and us. Giving a shit about your badge is what makes football great.

We'll never forget the tears of 2005, 2008 and 2009!! TAKE THAT REFEREES AND LUCK U HELD US BACK BUT NOT FOREVER!!!

They're not the only guyz who care about loss. Remember our players in 2009. Cole, Essien , Lampard the looks they had I'll never forget. Drogba and Ballack screaming at that bastard Hennings.

That's very poetic and everything but I'm sorry to inform you that Platonic morals don't exist in the real world. Success is only pleasurable because it comes on the expense of others, that's why you never see someone celebrate a goal he scored while training alone with no keeper.

Revenge is one of the things that gives most pleasure to humans, it's part of our sadistic side; so is proving everybody wrong. If you don't feel pleasure from watching those Barca players in pain you are either: not a chelsea fan and therefor don;t consider the success your own, or not human, or most probably pretending and lying to yourself first of all.

When was that one of Mata mate? I can't remember. I thought it might've been when he missed the pen in the CL, but he's wearing this season's kit.

After the defeat to Juve.

Yes, success is pleasurable because it comes as the expense of others, like you said. But to what extent? You can be a success, feel successful and be full of joy without enjoying watching a bunch of people crying and in pain.

The way I see it: when Drogba scored the equalizing goal against Bayern from that corner, I was ecstatic. And the disappointment on the Bayern players' faces somehow complimented Chelsea's desire to come back from being a goal down. That's normal. During the game, the players are footballers and that's how wee see them and how they see themselves. But as soon as the match is over, they're people. And I would never get a kick out of looking at pictures of people crying and seeing the pain on their faces. That Barcelona team has many players that I admire just as much as Chelsea players, and to see pictures of them in the dressing room like that, no. It's not going to make me feel 'successful'. And that doesn't make me any less of a Chelsea fan. I've cried many times while watching Chelsea games since the age of eight years old. Sometimes because we won, and sometimes because we lost.

Saying someone is not human because they don't feel pleasure while watching those Barca players in pain is just wrong and a ridiculous thing to say. Many things make me feel pleasure, but just because this is not one of them, it makes me no less of a human than you or anyone else.

Now I don't mean to attack you personally or anything like that. I just think that because you feel pride or pleasure while looking at those pictures, it's clouding your judgement. You seem to be offended at the thought that someone else might not feel that way. Maybe it makes you think anyone who doesn't feel that way is less of a Chelsea fan and is insulting your club. So I can understand. But not every true Chelsea fan is going to feel that way while looking at those pictures, and it makes them no less of a fan in my eyes.

Compassion is a major part of sport, and also of being a human being.

What does it matter if they are on the pitch or not? Footballers are people, and just like any people who are against you (be it in sport or not) you enjoy their suffering. Your pleasure from Bayern's pain when Drogba scored is the natural instinctive emotion for humans. The "compassion' you feel afterwards is the fear that you would be in their position some day.

I did not mean to offend anyone or question anyone's loyalty to the team; my post was not directed at the barca game or all of football for that matter but general human nature. It was a mix of psychology and philosophy that I really expect very few people to accept but it is my belief.
