Fulham Broadway 17,320
I remember at university when we learned that the ''information highway'' was coming and it was to become the ''greatest source of all knowledge'' I had this nagging thought even back then ''it will also become the biggest source of porn''..... Spike 12,049
As long as the hackers on steroids don't get me, I'm cool with the interwebs. Also Internet memes are a brilliant example of Darwinian Evolution.

capriccioso 2,545
And here come the American corporations, who want to ruin it all.The suits are locked around the negotiation table trying to sign, in secret, the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement. The TPPA will make it illegal to upload or view any copyrighted material.Masquerading as a free trade agreement, the TPPA would replace copyright laws in nine countries currently signed onto the negotiations, including the US, Japan, New Zealand and Australia (all of whom have very low trade barriers already). But the plan is to spread its reach over time and establish a global standard for Internet regulation, replicating the worst aspects of previous legislative proposals, like SOPA and PIPA.Nobody outside the talks are even permitted to have a copy of the text, so no one really knows the full content, and governments are keeping the press and public completely cut out of the debate. While more than 600 corporate lobbyists have had a free hand to create the agreement that will govern all of our Internet use, our elected members of parliament have no idea what is being negotiated.http://www.guardian....free-trade-deal
capriccioso 2,545
Anyone who wants to restrict the internet in any way at all, except making it impossible to access certain websites (such as those that promote hate speech, display terrorist material/child pornography) via commercial browsers can fuck off. It's no different to book burning in the Middle Ages. Piracy and copyright infringement is a final choice for the customer, who has been treated like shit for decades, to give some back to the wallets of the fat cats. What, you're afraid you'll lose another million? You already have more than you deserve. A true artist does not care if he makes so much as a cent in his life. By crippling the film and music industries we can weed out those that are only in it for the money and enormously improve the quality of the output product. We won't be having autotune wankers or women with no talent but a huge pair of jugs making it in the music/acting industries anymore. We'll have film that aims to change the paradigm of the audience rather than sell itself.
BluesChick 1,260
guys the life before internet was less than 100 years ago... I remember my first computer and it wasn't internet capable and that was in the 1980's. Cap... why do you think it is only Americans' that want to restrict the internet and why the hell would you assume our government speaks for the majority? Don't fool yourself, any government wants to restrict the internet... it is a source of unrest. No government on this planet has not considered restricting the internet. Some like where I live do it frequently, others are going to regret not doing it sooner.... people want freedom and most don't know what the hell to do with it. Duppy Conqueror 1,539
we`ve come along way sing the days of Pong on the Atari.some good ,some bad but i`m glad i grew up in a generation before the internet and things like social networks..it`s ironic really that social networks prevent people from actually socializing.i don`t envy kids born after the internet came about atall, don`t get me wrong we had plenty of inventions in the gadget world in the 80`s,possibly more.certainly more varied. but i think the balance was alot more healthier..we used our gadgets mostly when we couldn`t go outside and play sports or physical games with our friends. also i think we had to use our imaginations more and that was good for us. my nieces have all these so called great things to use at their disposal but they are often saying they are bored,i can`t remember ever being bored in my entire life. i tell them that a ball,a stick and a bicycle were the best things i had as a kid and they just can`t comprehend it.of the things we (as in the human race) invented i wouldn`t say the internet ranks that highly for me personally but for others it`s probably the best thing . apart from here i really don`t use the internet that much atall. aout 90 % of my time is on here and as folks have probably noticed in two years i`ve not been on here that often.
