People can criticise Terry all they want and say he is in decline (which he is but he is still a very good defender) but we shouldn't forget that nobody, arguably in the history of the club, has put themself on the line week after week for the club like he has

Why are we not even looking at Sahin?

It's weird isn't it? Available for a one year loan yet 0 links. I'm sure Mourinho would like to do his former club a favour while Sahin would love playing with the likes of Mata, Hazard and Oscar. And if he were to regain his Dortmund form, he'd be a starter for sure.

After a year, we get (a hopefully improved) De Bruyne back.

So because he has a great history we should keep playing him despite being bad?

Alright then, lets call back Zola!

Exactly, the main priority this season is playing better, having a better balance and getting back into that top 4.

The fact Sahin would only be here for a year and won't be able to play against Madrid should be the least of our worries.

Ah, yes. ENGLANDS BRAVE LION MR CHELSEA CAPTAIN LEADER LEGEND CAN DO NO WRONG, HE HAS 2, NO 52 IF HE WANTS, SEASONS LEFT IN HIM. The 'its JT he can do what he likes' argument makes as much sense as Tottenham fans' arguments last season when we requested to move the FA Cup tie. It consisted basically of "WE ARE TOTTENHAM SUPER TOTTENHAM FROM THE LANE FROM THE LANE WE ARE TOTTENHAM SUPER TOTTENHAM FROM THE LANE FROM THE LANE."

He has declined massively, and he will quickly turn into a liability a la Carragher in a year or so. We missed a huge trick by not getting shot of him for 40 million in 2010, that is an enormous sum for anyone, let alone a defender. 40 million pounds for a 29 year old centre back, we should have taken it then and there and lol'd all the way to the bank. We could have gotten Modric for that money. Or 4 great young centre backs. Anything we wanted really. That was before PSG turned up and made it harder to compete.

Modric? Fuck off he's nothing compared to JT...

So he's declining, from World Class to just Class...

It's not just the work he does on the pitch it's in the dressing room etc - we always play better when he's around.

40 million is fuck all to Roman, I'm glad you're not in charge of the club we'd be fucking relegated!

What a stupid thing to say. I am not saying we should play him week in week out but he is still a good defender and still good enough to play in this team. Cahill and Luiz struggle to play together and it is likely that ivanovic will be playing right back more often with Bosingwa gone. Some people on this thread are like spoilt children saying how we need lots more signings. Yes we need one or two but you seem to think that as soon as Terry is in decline one of our best ever players should just be sold in an instant. He is still a good player but it looks like Terry is becoming a scapegoat figure because he is not as good as he once was

I don't think Terry should be sold, likewise Lampard.

Those two can continue to be good for quite some time.

But I don't agree that they should be playing every game when they are not as good before.

If they want to stay till they retire, they should follow the Schole, Giggs model.

AMEN... All this hate for JT is crazy, proved today he is still our most solid reliable defender... yes he doesn't have blistering pace, but i am a hell of a lot more confident with him in our defence than anyone else. And i am glad we told man city to fuck off when they offered 40 mil. Proves we have player loyalty, and JT is truly a LEGEND.
