Essien is looking good. But the question is if he has it in him to stay fit for the entire season.

Marin although is good I think he takes one touch too many in the box. He needs to learn to shoot at sight. I saw this in the Seattle Sounders game too.

Lukaku needs to be more in the game. he looked decent so far.

Benayoun has been good in the middle.

Lampard making those runs in the box is his usual self.

Defense is holding up well.

Passing has been a bit erratic but thats because it is still pre season and players are rusty.

• I notice more attempted one-touch passes than I can remember us ever trying out. Definitely something to watch out for.

The criticism is too harsh. It's pre season. Realistically of the four attackers playing in that first half, which of them will start when everyone is fit and available? I'd say none. Marin played well, dangerous running at players and times his passes well. Benayoun and Essien also had a good half.

I know it's pre season but Marin need to pass quicker, how many time has he got past his man but decided to shoot, i can see that getting annoying throughout next season.
