What I imagine Pep with RDM as assistant would be like.

If you accept that then what exactly are you debating?

That football is unpredictable. Lets say 50 years from now we reach a point where its purely technical. An astute manager could set up a physical side and dominate the world. Then other managers would be forced to get more physical and balance in football would be restored again.

You do underestimate the influence of Laporta. He came when Barcelona was a mess and reorganised it and eventually appointed Guardiola. Laporta was again appointed because Cruijff supported him (that was at least one of the reasons). Cruijff didn't just have indirect influence on the succes of Guardiola and Barcelona. He still has a big direct influence. This stopped when Rosell became the new preses.

Guardiola is the most responsible for Barca's succes, but Laporta and Cruijff deserve a lot of credit as well. People who say anybody could have achieved with this team are ridiculous. Xavi wasn't worldclass until Guardiola came..

Ye Laporta's message was that he wanted to restore the clib's identity and he did that. In the end he and the club as a whole deserve credit for appointing the young, inexperienced but idealistic Guardiola after Rijkaard. Ye Cruyff's influence was big in the halls of Barcelona and he is still very popular with the fans.

Obviously you aren't going to completely eradicate physical players, there will always be a place for them. But with the laws of the game and how they are being enforced, it limits physical players and favours technical players, as long as those laws and the way they are enforced stay the same I suspect that technical players will always have the upper hand.

Only reason I would ever want pep to come to chelsea, is because I think our board would go balls out for neymar, so pep could have his own messi here.

Pep would probably attract more plays. Even though I like Pep, I want RDM given a fair shot.

No, if there was someone who didn't want Neymar at Barcelona then that man was certainly Pep. Rosell is the one who is strongly pursuing Neymar. If i am not mistaken i believe Rosell is some sort of owner in Brasilia Nike.

Anyone could win with Barca because they have a philosophy and model nobody else can compete with. You could appoint Boris Johnston as the manager of Barcelona and he would win the treble.

Very unfair. You have to motivate the players, impose your own style of play and adapt your tactics individually for each team you place. Guardiola did this and more - he dominated Spanish and European football, and he did it by playing magnificent football at the same time as getting the absolute best out of each and every player at his disposal. Meanwhile he sustained this progress by instilling great faith in youth academy products.

You should not demean someone like Guardiola, because he is a fantastic manager and he has worked wonders with that club. He was a legend at Barcelona even before he wore the managerial suit. Now he will go down not just in their history, but in the history of European football as one of its great managers.

Edit - I know that's an old post I've quoted but I just wanted to make my point. Sorry if I'm just echoing others here.

a disgrace to rdm. nothing more.

pep is nothing but a cheator and that too a lucky one. the only reason barca is so successful is because of the likes of iniesta, xavi, messi, all in the same team. even the spanish national team has won everythin so why not consider del bosque as a godly coach? if pep tried his philosophy of football used in barca to any other team it would be a total disaster and that is one of the reason he dint sign a contract for us, because believe me we would have gone all guns blazing for pep with a 200,000 pound a week salary and bonuses and promises of no interference and all the shit but the truth is that even pep would know that he would be a failure elsewhere so dint take the job.

I dont mind but its an opinion that a lot share though, I see Tito Vilanova being just as successful due to the squads ability in general. Any decent enough manager should do well with their current squad imo.

How is Guardiola a cheater? Its bitterness like this that really makes it clear why Chelsea and Chelsea fans are hated. Why can't you just accept he's an incredible manager and won a ridiculous trophy haul with an amazing team?
