Drogba didn't even get 15 goals last season...... His aim for this season would be to make a good number of appearances and impress in his minutes on the pitch and bag a few goals. A few games is not good enough esk, he needs to play all the carling cup games all the fa cup games and start a few premiership games against low league teams. Kalou got 13 goals from the left wing in his first season and danny is a much much better finisher than kalou.

He is going to have to work very hard to earn himself some starting places. He is good enough to but it will take some time. He will get plenty of minutes though, coming off from the bench to start with.
carefreeluke 27
Have we actually got this guy yet? IMO i reckon he will get more playing time than people think. Drogba and Anelka are never injury free and both are getting on a bit. With the African nations coming up this season too. He will also learn a lot from Drogba and Anelka which will help him develop. I do think he will be given chances but he's just going to end up like SWP and Sidwell for example. He has a attitude problem and he's not going to want to be sitting on the bench for the next few years. I hope im wrong but in a few years i think he will be looking for another club. The off the bench policy is not good enough di santo got loads of games off the bench but they were 3 mins action max.
Wxgba 306
I think it's good news for us if it does occur. However, as Luke's said, he'll probably not want to come here, as he'll not be wanting to sit on the bench, especially not with the ego he's got. Yes well if they want to encourage any young player to work their way into the first team they have to be given plenty of minutes on the pitch. But sturridge will not be a starter until he has earned it by impressing on the pitch for us. I am sure he will do too..

It is a good signing, as Chelsea continue to sign great players for the future...But there needs to be a youth structure. Last season DI Santo or Stoch came on the pointless side of 10 minutes to go in a game. We could set something up where the best2 or 3 youth team players get to play in the Reserves, and then the best 2 or 3 Reserves ge to be in the Chelsea squad, and then we play them in the early stages of the League Cup or F.A cup against lesser oposition Ala Man UTD (im sorry i had to say that name...never again). Just something which will guaruntee whatever the squad that the best players WILL in some way get a place in the squad

But like previous seasons i can't see this happening.
Term-X 7,891
as much as i want di santo, stoch, sturridge, mancienne etc to be first teams players i'd rather have an aging squad than a pre-school like arsenal.

We must match the playing time they get to what di santo and sturridge get.
Fulham Broadway 17,312
Good bit of business -the tribunal will probably settle for @£5 million , and he could be Englands centre forward in a year or two, and could show in squad for SA 2010.
