Eden Hazard

No, not exactly the same situation like Courtois. At least no WC footie next year, which means he will have to report back much earlier and we will have an idea whether he want to stay or not. That means we have plenty time to spend the money if there is some club try to buy him. But, yes, the ideal will be for him to sign at least sometime from now until January.

Will be painful to lose him next summer, we must to prepare a good replacement and not a deadline day one...

Think people getting a bit worried about if we lose him next season far too early, we are 2 games in, yes hes world class but this is a big year for the club. Just enjoy him while hes here for now and then we will see what happens next summer.

He is absolutely world class player that proven himself here season after season. If there is a player worth that pay, its him. Kante comes close second. People dont see yet we will NOT be able to replace Hazard. We couldnt replace Costa, nevermind Eden who is 10times more important in our attacking play.

Ya know what mate IF he was to come out right now and say I want to sign a new contract. I am happy here and I see myself staying here I'f give him the £400k for gratitude, love and devotion.

But right now this is hurting a little bi. The players must all be aware of it which can't help matters having our best player in limbo.

It just needs sorting one way or another so the club can make plans ahead with our without.

As one who does not rate Hazard as highly as others around here do, for very specific reasons (that I won't revisit at this time), I'd be totally OK if Chelsea made him one of the highest paid footballers in order to keep him.

If that's what we have to do to compete with the likes of RM and Barcelona, then so be it. Call it the london tax, or the "not being Barca/RM fee", whatever. If there is an opening, that he is indeed settled in london, and there is price to retain his services, then just fucking do it!

Although I agree with you, I think giving Eden those kind of wages would fuck up the wage structure. Football is a team game and you can't have one guy earning 500k a week whilst others are in that 200k-ish bracket

It's all very simple. If we qualify for the CL next season, I think he will sign a new contract. If we don't, its' bye bye time for Eden.

Maybe we could offer a deal which includes a relatively low release clause should we fail to qualify again?

Sure, but why would it be any different than the other WC players in other teams? I mean every team has the (or more than one) high earner. No other player in the squad is as famous or as impactful as Hazard. Kante comes close, but attacking players, esp creative types will always earn more.

Look at it from a diff perspective: if we go into the market looking for a Hazard type, a player ready to do what he does, we would have to break the bank (if we find and manage to convince him to join us). So, in all likelihood, the only other option (to hazard staying) would be making bets on youngsters/not yet ready players - hardly the same thing.

So, if there is an opening, the club should def go all in. Now, if there is no opening no chance of him staying (the club has to know either way!), then I'd say we are wasting time and should be already making those bets and/or trying to attract a replacement.

I dont see any problem in players being paid different amounts from each other.

just like any job theres a different wage structure for every person. The better you are and the more important to your company then the more you get.

I just wish it wasn't a bribe but more of a thank you.

Why bother giving him the new contract  then?

That means if we dont get top 4 then he leaves on the cheap. But without a contract at least we get a more reasonable payback.

its funny. We rake the Mick out of clubs whose players go thru contract wrangles and we have a doozy of our own!

Well yeah, it's the risk we have to take to keep him, if he doesn't sign a new deal and we don't make top 4 this year he will likely leave for even cheaper. Aslong as we keep making CL (which i can't imagine us not doing with this squad now we have a manager who won't lose his nut when not given a blank cheque) then we keep him, seems fair to me.

Cool

But then why should we give him the contract if its still possible he leaves either way.

Might as well leave it till next summer.

Thats not a gamble

If we make the top 4  he will sign then. And we save a years pay rise

What worries me more tho is just gow bad this might end up.

Willian for 1 wont be in a good frame of mind about playing 2nd fiddle to Pedro - even to we are reportedly going to offer him 2 years plus a rise!!

Luiz theres a chance that if his defensive brainfarts cause too much trouble he will be benched for AC. Him and Willian on the bench together can only be bad!

IF we aren't making the top 4 then the sulky moping Eden will come out too - not a happy thought.

So we have the potential for a shit hot season or a proper sulkfest

Stop all this bullshit of offering willian a two years contract... He ain't good enough....period! The reason willian was not sold is sarri and I think he can see and as the season pans out that willian is a limited player and can't even contribute goals vital to Sarri style of play...

Check our fresh links to Pulisic...so I can categorically tell you the club is ever willing to improve that right wing and add quality....In Eden case I don't know what to say other than if he doesn't want to stay let them sell him for good chunk of money £160 -  £180 and reinvest on quality players... We play a football now not reliant on individual skill sets but team work....don't get me wrong but the tone of people right here makes you think after Eden no more Chelsea...
