That does not make sense. They have only info from 1970 and yet they can compare to 10,000 years ago?

Hmm it sure does (make sense), or are you suggesting that we cannot possibly know anything about the world prior to 1970 if there were no measurements for it then? because that's not the case at all. It's the same way that the Police can prove someone committed a crime even tho no-one else was present, thru evidence (forensics, DNA, etc). The page I linked calls it "Scientific evidence" but it's still evidence.

They have been doing weather-related measurements since 1970, but the measurements can go back thousands of years (thru Geology, Archeology, and other fields).
It's mentioned on the page. , "Ancient evidence can also be found in tree rings, ocean sediments, coral reefs, and layers of sedimentary rocks"

You don't have to have been alive when the tree was young to know things about that time.
"Trees contain some of nature's most accurate evidence of the past. Their growth layers, appearing as rings in the cross section of the tree trunk, record evidence of disastrous floods, insect attacks, lightning strikes, and even earthquakes that occurred during the lifespan of the tree. They also hold excellent records of climate." https://scied.ucar.edu/learning-zone/how-climate-works/tree-rings-and-climate

Been to Greece many times. Thessaloniki, Athens and many islands. Greeks always had reputation they don't like/want to work. And rightly so. My impression is that half population have some property by the sea they are renting in the summer and make enough money so they don't have to work in the winter.

No they don't.
There are various traits: Property owners, bank robbers, card sharps, police, fishermen ...
They want to work because otherwise they have to beg.
And there is no permanent unemployment benefit in Greece. It's one and a half year after they have fired you from somewhere.
But the "right to work" has strict conditions attached to it related to minimum tax one has to pay.

Historical BBC racism

You recognize this character below ?
It is lieutanant Gruber (Guy Siner) from 'Allo 'Allo.

Now, this guy was the German gay officer as you all remember.
What did the BBC do then ?
In the last episode of the series it is supposed to be a farewell party with all the participants of the show
who have survived the war and are now friends.
So far so good.
But what about Gruber ?
Gruber declares that he stopped being gay and he is now married to the beautiful Helga (Kim Hartman).

Ain't that racist and homophobic ?

I considered to go watch it but they are selling tickets for 1000-1200 Euros.. I underestimated big time.

It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. There was this big anti-Israel campaign at Eurovision but apparently they did amazing in televoting last night and skyrocket in odds. Second favorite now after Croatia.

No more Eurovision for me.
In 2007 they robbed me.
Look at the song I backed:

Look what won:

You hear Lasha Tumbai now everyday, in every disco, every beach pub.
But where did you hear the Serifovic song ever again ??
The Serbian Paparigas woman has vanished into obscurity.

The utter scoundrels fixed it.
Made me support brexit but only temporarily - because I discovered the brexiteers were loony types.

What happened was this:
Lasha Tumbai price was a good 80 to 1.
Those days we did n't have Paypal in Greece but my sister had a small paypal account from when she was in the UK so she borrowed me 30 euros to make the bet with betfair.
She was n't giving me more, so I did n't cover myself with place bets (40 to 1 - not bad).

But it was a big time fraud.
I never switch the tv on since then to watch the rubbish, but I have noticed it was n't the first and only time they gave the prize to stupid songs.

The idea that telephone voters went to bat like that of them ays all you need to know about how Europe views Palestinians or I guess Arabs in general.

Arena was booing Israel song but couldn't hear it on TV. They put filters.

Eurovision main sponsor is Moroccanoil. Guess from where?

Do Moroccans own Moroccanoil? Or is it it one of those shell countries owned by a minority from elsewhere?
