What is different this time from 2007, 2014 is no Western countries are calling for restraint. There is no impartiality. EU with the Israeli flag, and Hezbollah ready to attack having said a ground invasion of Gaza is a red line. Escalation seems very likely.

We can go into the causes - UK initially responsible with the Balfour agreement setting up Israel in 1948 on Palestinian land, up until the present day-  Israelis partying and having a Rave on land where Palestinians lived and their houses were demolished, and many were murdered by settlers.

However the bottom line there is very little will for peace, a peaceful solution, same as Ukraine, the whole thing driven by arms manufacturers and inflamed by corporate media. Peace can be accomplished by a collective will, this was proved in Ireland, but sadly there is no desire by the powerful for this, right wing politicians like Netanyahu are a serious problem in the World

What fuels a lot of animosity is the utter bias western and European media have towards the whole situation. Israelis are getting 'murdered' whereas Palestinians are simply 'dying'. Hamas are killing 1000s of innocent people whereas the IDF are simply fighting back. There are now talks of making it illegal to wave a Palestinian flag in England. Over in the states, you have lunatic Republicans who want jews to control all of Palestine so Jesus can come back and rapture can happen.

I saw a Spanish explication of the difference between Hamas and Palestine. 

It mentions that the Palestinian authorities do want to make peace but Hamas not. 

I thought that was interesting. 

I saw also lapid saying that they just want to exterminate Hamas and maybe give gasa to the Palestinian authority.

There is only a small % of Palestinians that simply want peace with Israel, and even then that is a very young %. They'll denounce Hamas but that is the end of that. 

Again, the underlying issue is that Palestine would've been systematically eradicated even if Hamas existed or not. What ever peace Lapid is suggesting isn't of the benefit of Palestinians. That's for damn sure.

After Camp David and Egypt leaving the scene of the conflict things became relatively quiet.
After the fall of the Soviet Union things seemed to improve for a while.
During the Saddam - Isis - Syrian war years again the circus moved elsewhere.
There was no absence of fighting during these phases and there were serious conflagrations from time to time but no real war.
Now with Iran and Putin in close alliance it is time for a new real war.
It's difficult though to see any end to it.

Back in 1945 nazi Germany surrendered. The Germans became quiet soon afterwards.
Why ?
Because their objectives were nothing less than Los Angeles - San Francisco - Africa - Asia - Australia.
For the dyed in the wool nazi it would seem silly to fight for an independent ... Lower Saxony-Westphalia.
It would seem silly to me.
So they decided to become Americans.
The much harder than Germans Japanese were more or less in the same frame of mind after their surrender.

This is different and there is also the islamic fundamentalism in the way.
It's maybe not the biggest war in history but it's like nothing we 've seen before.
A war of annihilation.

Like I said the EU have dug a hole for themselves displaying a massive Israeli flag. Same all over the World Israeli flag projected on to Sydney Opera House, New York,

In the muslim world u wont find any thoughts or protests about Israeli civilians, in the muslim world u wont find big protests after terrorist attacks. They cry whenever the rights of muslims as a minority are threatened, but wont grant other minorities basic rights in their own countries. Yes people can call the west hypocrits, but the muslim-arab world is not in the position to do so. They have always been biased and onesided all the way.

They majority don't even have basic rights in their own country. you realize that right?

It is really not that hard to be against the suffering and killing of innocent civilians, regardless of their ethnicity or religion.

I am an American, i do not support funding other states or actors to kill innocent civilians.
