I think I understand what you are saying, but once again think you are reducing the issue and ignoring the actual situations presented (Vegas and Uvalde); I was literally reporting what was said by the police in the audio--it's available and be listened to (if you have the stomach).

The worst part of Assault Rifles here in the US is that many places ANYONE can buy them! You don't even have to know how to use them. Why do you assume the folks who committed these atrocities have had any level of training and could do what a trained individual could? Some of these folks were not even right in the head and were able to buy and use these weapons.

Finally, on a personal note, I'd rather live in a place where I don't see folks carrying assault rifles in the streets. It just looks and feels like a third world military state rather than a place I'd want to live. I understand, like you said, that a concealed weapon in the wrong hands (or right depending how you see it) can be just as deadly if used properly, but I rather prefer if they were available only to a) people who knew how to use them and b) were mentally stable/no criminal record.

I agree no one should be able to buy assault rifles or any other firearm unless trained according and atleast a evaluation on where your head is at, I strongly believe guns shouldn't be sold to the public at all

hah yeah I realized at some point during the discussion that you were not making a point for them. 😅

Regarding the last point, it gets a bit nuanced in rural areas where police may take 30-40m (or never) to show up eh.

Like written above, it's always going to be hard to get sensible legislation, when you have so much money moving around with gun sales.

Prospects for Labour victory in the UK

What can a Keir Starmer government achieve, and what obstacles stand in its way?

After the warm welcome of its first edition in November 2022, FEPS and KarlRenner-Institute organised another iteration of the new feature of the Next Left Research Program: the Next Left Lectures. Lord Roger Liddle, member of the House of Lords, presented the second lecture on ‘Prospects for Labour victory in the UK:  what a Keir Starmer government can achieve and what obstacles stand in its way?’

He described the UK Labour (LP) Party’s evolution in the last few decades. He addressed Brexit, its reasons, and its consequences for the British people. Much of the lecture was devoted to Keir Starmer as the leader of LP and his agenda for the upcoming election. In the opinion of R. Liddle, Labour has the opportunity to rebuild its identity and win over the electorate. In response and ahead of many upcoming elections in the EU, Thijs Reuten, MEP S&D, highlighted how important it was for the Next Left to show that it understood voters’ concerns and is taking decisive actions to address them.

According to Roger Liddle, the heart of the Labour programme must be a modern industry policy and comprehensive public service reform. Labour policy should thus follow two key principles:

  • invest to grow’: Labour has already committed itself to a significant programme of investment in climate transition. The hope is that this would help create in Britain a new generation of industries at the forefront of the clean energy sector.
  • invest to save’: Ring-fenced spending on public services, which would make their provision cheaper in the long run and reduce pressures for future spending.

He concluded by explaining that, for Starmer’s Labour to be more than a one-term government, “Labour has to demonstrate a coherent long-term strategy to be the kind of social democratic government that inch by inch tackles the hard boards of injustice in our society.”

Chased out of hospital !

I went to the doctor last week for a yearly check up.
He says ok, we must make a scan as well to be on the safe side.
So he gives me a paper saying "body scan" in lieu of perscription and another paper - hospital form for the scanners and he says "you go there, the appointment is fixed".
I go Tuesday morning to the hospital. A nurse gives me a bottle of water and goes back into the scanners room. I was expecting her to come back with the stuff I had to drink and the needles she had to put in my arm.
But instead of that an odd looking woman from the administration appears and she says "give me those two papers of yours".
I give them thinking it's part of the procedure and she starts yelling "now you will go to prison !", "I 'm going to call a platoon (!) of policemen".
I say to her "what's the matter ?", she keeps on shouting and I say to her "you are crazy" and then the doctor comes out and he says to me "please leave the area".
So I left. Later on it transpired that the perscription "body scan" had to be signed by a hospital doctor rather than an outside doctor.
Ok, hospital rule, accepted, but could n't see say this simple thing instead of the ... platoon off policemen. Could we not obtain the signature of one of the establishment's doctors ?
Also I 've been three times before to the same place in the same hospital and probably they have me in the computer.
Have you ever seen patients being treated like that ?
The family doctor holds me by his teeth not to go to the ministry complaints service to report.

That woman was a Syriza demonstrator, obvious from a distance of several miles.

Tory MP visits a remote constutuency in the Orkneys.
The villagers surround the mp and say to him "we have two big problems".
The MP says "what are they ?"
The villagers reply "first we don't have a doctor".
The Tory MP takes out his cell phone, makes a call and says to the villagers "problem fixed, a doctor will arrive here tomorrow".
The Tory MP continues "now what is the other big problem ?"
The villagers reply "on this island there is no telephone signal anywhere".

How did Erdogan defy the opinion polls, even those made a few days before the election ?
This is not a political question. It’s more of a question about statistics.
In Turkey the candidates were more or less the same persons as in 2018 and the opinion polls in such conditions are seldom known to fail.

So how did he defy them, by a good margin as well ?
The polls were expecting Kilincaroglu with the 49% and Erdogan with the 45%.

Woke, Woke, Woke, Snowflake, Cancel Culture, Woke, says Lee Anderson

https://newsthump.com/2023/05/13/woke-woke-woke-snowflake-cancel-culture-woke-says-lee-anderson/

Lee Anderson

“Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, snowflake, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke,” fumed Conservative party deputy Lee Anderson.

“Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, snowflake, snowflake, snowflake, cancel culture,” he said.

“Snowflake! Snowflake! Woke! Woke, woke, woke, woke. Cancel Culture. Cancel Culture. Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke!

“Cancel Culture! Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, Cancel Culture, snowflake. Snowflake? Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke,” he continued, getting increasingly angry.

“WOKE! WOKE! WOKE! WOKE! WOKE! WOKE! Cancel Culture.

“Cancel Culture? Woke. Cancel Culture? SNOWFLAKE. SNOWFLAKE. SNOWFLAKE? SNOWFLAKE. Woke,” standing up and banging his thighs with his fists.

“Woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, Cancel Culture,” he continued, his face becoming red as his fury increases.

“CANCEL CULTURE! CANCEL CULTURE! CANCEL CULTURE! WOKE! SNOWFLAKE! WOKE! CANCEL CULTURE!” Now just screaming, his voice hoarse.

“CANCEL CULTURE! WOKE! SNOWFLAKE!”

Finally, his ire spent, he slumps down and smiles, exhaustedly.

“Cancel Culture, woke, snowflake.”

I feel sad for these people and Philadelphia.

This drug is worse then anything else.

It is, especially when its cut with Tranq. On its own Fentanyl is 50 times more addictive than heroin so that's bad enough, but the tranq (xyaladine) creates sores and wounds that just don't heal. Now xyalidine has been found cut with other drugs in 36 US States.

What with that going on, more guns than people in the US. and 30% of Americans expecting civil war in the next 10  years -its looking pretty bad over there.
