Napoli v Chelsea

So does that mean it's a 4-2-3-1 with Mata behind Drogba and Malouda & Sturridge out wide?

kinda yeah, though i think that will be a little too offensive, as we know Ramires also likes to run forward. This would make more sense with Essien being the man in front of the defense, not Meireles.

Also it can be Malouda in the midle and Mata as a winger.

Midfield full of runners = We're gonna sit back and counter-attack.

Thank you! I knew there was something to this midfield that was telling me this could work. Neither Lamps nor Essien are anywhere near mobile enough to deal with what Europe needs.

Last post before I log out lol. I don't think Lamps' exclusion is that big a deal. He's been crap as of late and IF he does have a problem with the manager then he doesn't deserve to play anyway. I know Meireles is rubbish too but what I mean is I can't see Frank making much difference to that side.

Come on Chels!

A mid full of runners is not a good way to be good in counter attacks. With Mourinho we used to be really good in counter attacks, and it was Lampard, Makelelé and Thiago/Smertin.

Disappointed with Essien's exclusion and Malouda's inclusion. The rest of the changes... meh.

Turning the internet off now. This forum is trying to convince me that we've already lost 5-0!

good idea ,,and there is still at least 180 minutes to play...seems Jamie Redknapp is sticking the knife in ,,,he is becoming a real tosser lately.

possibly a reflection of what's going on behind the scenes with AVB and Frank? Frank unhappy -> Jamie venting Frank's frustration

Malouda, Bosingwa and Meireles. Jesus.

Those 3 names say it all to me, my goodness a RB that can't defend at RB but puts him LB, Meireles has been simply woeful & I can't remember the last time Maloulda had a half decent game let alone a decent game?!

This team is a massive, massive gamble & if we pull it off with a damage limitation result I will be totally stunned, its almost as though he wants the sack! I hope AVB gets it right but this team would certainly not be my selection.

Lampard was a runner. We were better in 05-06 with Essien, he was also a runner. Our DMs Mikel and Romeu are in poor form.

I'm not saying it will work but I understand his, AVB, intentions.

Warren Barton making the perfect analysis on Chelsea's starting lineup

"I don't know what is going on, where is the Logic? A LB for a RB? Mata and Malouda swapping? Has he learned nothing before? These aren't tactical or logical decisions, these a rash decisions. We don't know whats going to happen and neither does Villas-Boas, it's a panic move"
