Could this be a disaster?

Simple really. Things haven't gone according to plan, so he plays it safe with experience rather than inexperience. If we were in a better position, no doubt we'd see more risky choices by him.

thats the problem right ... not a single manager took that risk... and all we keep saying to ourselves if we were in a better position the "manager(whomsoever)" would have given the younger players a chance. *face palm*

somethings from his first interview with CFC :"I want to bring the right empathy in the team "--- almost 7 months I haven't seen anything close to that

"to get the players to play as a team" again no where to be seen ... Sturridge playing selfish at times when we would scored/been much better of if he had pased the ball to some one else.

That's my point.. not a good sign for Ryan

Ha yeah i've just seen the edit you made. However, I think Bertrand would've got a chance with Pereira here (with Cole out), simply because of the fact we have no orthodox left wingers. Oh and going on to the subject of left wingers...

Mata only worldclass player

I wouldn't consider Mata world class. Not yet, anyway. On the form that the team is in, I don't consider any of our players world class. Some have the potential to reach that accolade however.

yeah well, all other managers were expected success straight away (prime example being Mourinho, who played his first team in every competition including CC)... maybe if AVB gets reassurance that he's safe, we might see change in that. We already saw change in our CC policy, that's a step forward. Oh, and AVB said it was a request made by Roman himself, so our emperor himself wants to change our youth policy to be more positive.

Sturridge-22 and Romeu-20. Mata-23, Luiz-24 and Ramires-24 are fairly young too (by our standards)

except Romeu no surprises there ... if you dont play a player when they are 20-26 ... you are not going to get their best out of them after that .

besides they had to prove their worth ... if you give our younger players a chance they will prove their worth too...

That's what I was driving at, the signs are there. We just have to be patient.

Is AVB confident in any youth player?

Doesnt seem that way.But none of our managers have been and just kinda goes back to what Jose said..he wanted to build a team from youth and play more but demand for trophies made him not feel confident enough to do so,seemed a case of either play old and experince and hopfully win..or play youth..loose and get slated for it..and seems to be the case with AVB lack of confidence? But need to take a risk really..oldies arent doing it need more to play with passion

I think he is world class, look at some of the passes and goals he's made this season, brilliant creative player, but fair enough you maybe right.

You cannot sack a manager when he's still buying his players, it's impossible. We have to just try n come 4th and then next season is the real season to start properly and push on. He's obviously got his ideas and he's obviously been assured of time otherwise he wouldn't do it this way. We've brought in a few since the summer, he's putting his mark on the team but just hasn't finished yet. All the big stuff will be done in the summer.

It will be a disaster though if we don't qualify for the Champions' League. Absolute tragedy.

We all have to just trust the guy and see what happens. I'm pissed off with this season, it's been the worst shit i've ever seen from a Chelsea team but i really have faith that he knows what he's doing and will sort it out. In the next 2 years, this squad will be unrecognisable and things will be completely different. I'm genuinely excited. Forget about this season, write it off. Next season is where the AVB era really gets underway.

Even without the fiancial cost there is still now way in hell we can sack AVB.

We have our core of young, hungry players who are a while away from their peak and have everything to prove. DL4, Rami, Romeu, Danny, Mata we could even add Ivanovic and to a lesser extent Cahill and Bertrand add to that list also add the young talent we have out of loan, the only problem is they are being "suffocated" by the players who are either past their peak, lost their hunger or cant be assed, we need to let the well fed "superstars" go to let those guys spread the wings and establish themself.

remember how Ronaldo and Rooney shot to talents to world class players once Keane and Van Nisseroy left United?

Same with Barca, Iniesta and Messi only truly started to show us what they were about once Deco and Ronaldinho departed.

Real is another example with Raul and Guti, club legend's but Real put the good of their progression ahead of sentiment something we need to do this summer.

We let the big ego's leave this summer and getother young, hungry players in then i feel we will start seeing what David Luiz and Juan Mata especially (others aswell) are truly about.

If we don't finish in the top4 it will be a disaster. Why?Finacialy and because we need radical changes. Will Hazard for example come to a team not playing in the Champions League or rather go to City who will probably be the Champions?

As it has been said, we get that top4 finish, AVB survived the season and assesed the players and the PL itself. Hopefully we can do good business in the summer and then see what the young portuguese can do.

This is all I care about this season, top4 finish. Everything above that is a luxury.

Another one of these? I'm more a forum reader than a poster... I just want to say everybody whose got little patience or just want chelsea to win win win win win win buy buy buy to please leave the forum and come back next season.

AVB is building a team you guys know what building means right? The process of creating or developing something, typically a system or situation, over a period of time: the building of a top class Chelsea Football Club is underway. -Apple Dictionary.

Yes we are drawing in games against freaking Swansea and losing against QPR but WHAT? What? I mean I am no going to say that I don't get mad but what can we do? Nothing just trust AVB and Abramovic that's it AVB is a technical genius lets be honest. The only thing he can't fully control is players and their personalities but he is doing a good job so far.

Please stop posting this kind of threads and being pessimistic because what will we achieve if AVB is sacked? We will be taking a step backwards actually.

It's posts like this i despise and i didn't want on my topic, look many on this thread have disagreed with me, but they havent went to the boundries you have just went. Just because i think we need to spend money even if financial fair play is in just to actually get a team because i think what's best, doesn't make me a plastic fan or spoilt as you make me out to be, please if you're going to be like that then don't post on the topic. This is a forum, if we all thought like you there wouldn't be an arguement now would there?, some people have my views some have yours respect other peoples views please.
