Barcelona's Suarez furious after club backtrack on transfer to Atletico Madrid

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4187745/barcelonas-suarez-furious-after-club-backtrack-on-transfer-to-atletico-madrid-sources

Luis Suarez is furious with Barcelona after the club backtracked on an agreement to let him leave for free when it emerged he was close to signing for Atletico Madrid, sources have told ESPN.

Suarez is now considering holding a news conference alongside his lawyers if the situation cannot be resolved to give his version of events. He believes a verbal agreement reached with Barca this week to terminate his contract should be honoured.

After being told he could leave the club by new coach Ronald Koeman last month, the striker's legal team had been negotiating the recision of their client's deal with Barca.

A breakthrough eventually came Monday. Suarez would give up a percentage of the money owed to him in the final year of his contract and Barca would let him leave for free, as long as he didn't join certain clubs. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were among those named in the agreement, but not Atletico.

Meanwhile, sources told ESPN that Atletico had reached an agreement with Suarez on Monday and hoped to finalise the transfer as soon as Alvaro Morata's loan move to Juventus was confirmed.

However, sources told ESPN that news of Suarez's pending move to the Wanda Metropolitano saw Barca put the brakes on the termination of the Uruguay international's contract.

Liverpool ‘agree £36m deal’ for Sarr despite Jota signing

https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-agree-36m-deal-ismaila-sarr-despite-jota-signing

Liverpool have reportedly “agreed a deal” for Ismaila Sarr, despite completing the signing of Diogo Jota last week.

The Reds were interested in the Senegal international before he joined Watford last summer for a club-record £30million, and have continued to be linked with the winger ever since.

Their deal for Jota was expected to end of their interest in Sarr for the time being, but Jurgen Klopp is still keen on the 22-year-old according to France Football.

The report suggests Liverpool have made a breakthrough in negotiations and have agreed a deal with Watford worth between £32million and £36million.

Sarr put Liverpool to the sword in Watford’s 3-0 win over the Reds at Vicarage Road in February, their first defeat of the season.

Earlier this summer, Sarr made it clear he would be open to joining Liverpool where he could team up with “big brother” Sadio Mane.

Not good. A signing for the future from them. Let’s hope he rots on the bench

Official: Roma Signs Marash Kumbulla

The 20-year-old defender is now officially a Roma player.

https://www.chiesaditotti.com/2020/9/17/21439812/roma-marash-kumbulla-transfer

AS Roma v Hellas Verona - Serie A

For much of Serie A's abbreviated summer vacation, common thought prevailed that Marash Kumbulla, Hellas Verona's 20-year-old Albanian centerback, was leaving the club after only one season, likely heading to the warming embraces of Antonio Conte and Inter MIlan. For reasons unknown, that move never materialized, leaving Kumbulla's immediate future uncertain.

However, given everything we know about The Friedkin Group's style of business (or don't know, to put it more aptly), Roma may have been angling for Kumbulla all along. And whether their leg work began weeks ago or just within the past 72 hours, it worked:

Moments ago, the club officially unveiled Kumbulla as a Roma player, who they will acquire initially on a two-year loan, with multiple Roma prospects heading in to Verona on their own two-year loans.

Per the official release:

As part of the negotiations, two-year loan arrangements for players Mert Cetin, Matteo Cancellieri and Aboudramane Diaby to go in the opposite direction and join Verona have also been agreed.

When the costs of all loans are weighed against each other, the net cost to Roma is €2 million.

The overall transaction also includes various obligations, based on the meeting of certain targets, to make all four transfers permanent.

Assuming the four deals are all completed, the net cost to the Giallorossi will be €13.5m.

The deal for Kumbulla also includes a number of specific performance-related bonuses, based on the achievements of both the player and the club, that are worth up to a maximum of €3.5m.

Should the conditions be met to make the transfer permanent, Kumbulla has agreed a contract with the club that runs until 30 June 2025.

That's definitely a more complex deal than we imagined just a mere 24 hours ago, but by including those three young players, Roma were able to drastically cut down the actual cash exchange in this deal. While we were pretty intrigued by Çetin's potential, Kumbulla is clearly the superior player at this point, so losing out on Çetin is essentially a wash.

A product of Verona's youth academy, Kumbulla made his professional debut during with a 17 minute came during 2018-2019 season, but really broke through to the first team this past season, making 26 starts in all competitions for the Mastiffs.

Kumbulla will join an incredibly young back line in Roma, liking up with 21-year-old Roger Ibañez and 24-year-old Gianluca Mancini, as well as (for now) veterans Federico Fazio and Juan Jesus.

Hopefully, we'll have time before the season to really delve into what makes Kumbulla such an intriguing prospect, but as you can see in the video below, he's got the goods, showing an impressive sense of timing, space and anticipation, in addition to some pretty slick tackling technique; you'll notice how seldom he goes to ground and how composed he is when dispossessing in the defensive third.

It was an unexpected signing, but Roma's capture of Kumbulla could be a game changer for a Roma side that seems to be getting younger by the day.

Alex Telles hopes to seal Manchester United move from Porto this week

Talks for Brazilian left-back are advanced but fee not settled

Telles’s time at Porto suggests he will score and set up goals

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/sep/21/aston-villa-sign-bertrand-traore-from-lyon-transfer-window

Alex Telles is hopeful of sealing a move to Manchester United from Porto this week and becoming Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s second signing of the window. Negotiations for the 27-year-old Brazil left-back, who has a release clause of €40m (£36.7m), are advanced.

United are attempting to drive down his price to a maximum of €25m because Telles is in the final year of his contract. The player’s salary at United would be about £75,000 a week.

Telles, who won his sole Brazil cap against Panama last year, would provide competition for Luke Shaw and pose a greater goalscoring threat than the England international. Last season Telles, who takes penalties, scored 11 times in the Primeira Liga and made eight assists. In Porto’s opening-day 3-1 win over Braga on Saturday he scored two penalties and provided the assist for Sergio Oliveira’s strike. In 158 Premier League appearances for United Shaw has scored once and made seven assists.

Solskjær’s only signing of the window has been the midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

potential Mane-style wingers (some are stretches or have issues) IMHO

Mane, btw, IHO, is the 2nd best player in the EPL atm after De Bruyne, as much as I hate Liverpool, I so admire Sadio

none of these are already superstars, so no Mbappe (who is better than Mane and anyone else anyway) Sancho, Gnabry, etc

bold are the closest to him, in terms of not that well known and/or experienced and who have similar skillsets

watch Krépin Diatta (top pic) and Mohammed Daramy (bottom pic)  especially

Sarr too, obviously

Wow, if they get Skriniar/Dias and Milik what a transfer window that would be. Ndombele showed some great things in the last match and he can become what was expected from the beginning.

Spurs are the one to watch. They improved massively just like Everton and Arsenal.
