To be frank, the more the time goes by the more I am angry toward us for this defeat. Of course we have been robbed, and had not it been for Overamdcjxcvhv, we would have gone through... But, even under those circumstances, we should have won this game. We didn't take advantage that we were one goal ahead, and in numerical superiority.

Does anyone else think we should have taken essien off? I remember he was absolutely knackered towards the end and was struggling. And for the goal he failed to close them down / make some kind of tackle.

I will admit that I don't remember the game very well. Haven't seen anything at all after watching the live telecast - not even highlights. Can't bear to see it again. I was absolutely heartbroken when that shot went in. And I can't analyze things during first watch but I remember thinking during the game that maybe we should have taken him off and brought on fresh legs. Who was on the bench that night and what subs did we make?

you can't say all of the penalty shouts were concrete calls but the Pique handball definitely should have been given, the rest you see given and sometimes the opposite.

Sorry BL but I disagree, 3 of the 4 shouts were nailed on & would/should of been given everyday of the week. Only Maloulda's was questionable but then you listen to the pundits at the time (ala Souness amongst others) then it may well of been all 4. I dont think I need to explain Drogba's & Anelka's but what stunned me with disbelief was Ballack's, Ovrebo had already denied us 3 pens & an easy decision to send off Pique, yet Ballack's strike was on target, the Barca player raised his hand to stop it, Ovrebo had a clear view of all things & still ran off nonchalantly with a 'I couldn't give a fuck' attitude. Ovrebo's performance was beyond disbelief

& it was easy to see why there were thoughts of a conspiracy - we were well & truly done but I still can't fathom out whether he was just completely inept or UEFA indeed had an unscrupulous agenda or both!

One thing is for sure is that we should of won the game anyway but that's certainly no consolation. I am though really looking forward to the players biographys when they retire, just to hear their true feelings of what happened that night, they obviously can't say too much now but it makes for some juicy reading later on!

Essien is at fault for the Iniesta goal with his piss poor clearance.

As for the substitutions, I only remember Belletti coming on.

This and Moscow still haunt me.

Worst match I've been too. To have redemption snatched away from you so cruelty, with the Barca players and bench running the length of the pitch to see their fans... Horrible.

What haunts me is the lingering doubt about whether our team will ever live up to the performances that were put in on those two nights. Players like Drogba (although he did improve in 2010) , Lampard and Terry were on the top of their game, but were still denied.. And to add insult to injury the two opposition teams have contested two finals in the aftermath...

I really want our older players to win a CL trophy.(.I mean how can someone like Carrick, Busquets or Tevez win a CL medal, over Drogba and Lampard?)...Maybe, and perhaps fittingly, it will be the youngsters who will actually carry them over that treshold...

sigh...I'm still sentimental about this :P

Ovrebo. A true cunt. Must of received exclusive benefits and a few bags of $$$ from Platini and his corrupt mates after that performance.

I'm surprised Drogba/Ballack didn't punch him after the whistle.

I totally agree with you mate, I'm not disputing that they should have been given, all I said is sometimes you see them given and other times you don't. However the handball at least was inexcusable.

Fair comment BL, my point was that 3 of the four shouts were nailed on - easy decisions for a Sunday league ref let alone an official given a CL semi final. The fourth was questionable & that one is were I agree with you - sometimes given other times not.

To top it all we were tagged as the enemy of football and that football won apparently.

We missed our chances that night. Any otter referee at from any division would have given atleast one of those penalties.

The number of heartbreaks a Chelsea fan has suffered over the years in UCL is unbelievable.

We couldn't beat a 10 man Monaco team and then get done at the bridge.

We lose to a ghost goal

We lose on penalties

Terry penalty kick after Ronaldo misses his.

Ovrebo the bald cunt.

I so badly want Barcelona in the Champions League final an want us to score the winner in the 90th minute via John Terry

I had forgotten about that one...

When Bacelona's play acting and posturing came to the fore over the past two season, I guess all the preconcieved opinions about their heroism just faded...
