neel 257
....he could have been but Ferreira is obviously seen as the better option by his compatriot managerTo be very honest I still dont understand AVB's decision. If we are going to miss Ashley in some crucial matches then boswinga and david luiz are there to cover. But if we secure first place in first 4-5 matches then bertrand could be be given a chance. That is how youth should be integrated.
neel 257
and in KO stage teams are allowed to include only one new player. For us that would the "marquee" signing of january. could be modric or hazard or messi or iniesta.

Bertrand has been employed at Chelsea FC for six years and played for five different clubs, and you'd think hes good enough..or not as the case maybe... Peace. 4,352
Ferreira, [...] had to be included this time around with Chelsea denied any other cover at left-back for the first‑choice, Ashley Cole. The sentence above is my concern. I do not know from what (web)site it does come from, but come on. To say we have included Ferreira because we do not have cover for Ashley.... And Bertrand is a gardener ?ps : I hope it isn't our official website.
Tomo 21,751
We can't have it both ways.Has Ryan got picked, played the last game against Valencia with Cole injured and qualification at stake and makes a mistake that gets us knocked out you would all bemome his selection and say we should have gone with expierence. Peace. 4,352
^I get it. We should lock all our young players in a strong-box, so they can't do mistakes, so we can't critisize them.More seriously, I do not think that any member on here would say "we should have played Ferreira at LB" if Bertrand makes a mistake. lecter 84
Can someone please point out which Chelsea players can come into the 'club grown' quota and the 'association grown' quota in the near future? Just point out who all will be eligible, please.

To say we have included Ferreira because we do not have cover for Ashley.... And Bertrand is a gardener ?ps : I hope it isn't our official website.ps : I hope it isn't our official website. No, it's from the Guardian. The rules are a little confusing, but from my understanding, it seems Bertrand couldn't have been included because out of the quota of 8 homegrown players, only 4 can be association trained and not club trained.Terry is the only one who comes under club trained.Lampard, Turnbull, Sturridge and Cole complete the 4 man association trained quota.Since Bertrand has been out on so many loans, his time at Chelsea isn't long or consecutive enough to fulfill home trained conditions. So essentially, if we had to register Bertrand, he would have to be registered as a non homegrown player. But AVB chose to pick Ferreira for that spot instead.
BlueLion. 21,491
I can only sympathise with Lukaku, but especially with Bertrand. We've sold Yury Zhirkov and let Patch go out on loan, promoting him to second in the left-back pecking order. But instead of getting experience against Bayer Leverkusen and Valencia in the final two group stage games, he'll be playing reserve fixtures at Griffin Park. My support in AVB has decreased dramatically.Youth integration? Is it fuck, it's the same overpaid, underperforming has-beens.
nadavTKL 1,787
I didnt understand, Bertrand is a "home grown player", right? If he is, he could be included as a "non home grown player " also?

And criticize him for youth from the beginning of the season!Let's hope AVB realizes the error of his ways and correct this mishandling of youth, and Lampard in the coming games. the Blues 11 19
Lukaku could have helped, I think, during the group stage. Let's give AVB the benefit here, hoping he has a feel for the right players to include. I just hope Kalou doesn't see much action.
kwylino 329
Guys think maybe your overreacting a little bit with the kalou case. yeah hes not a juan mata never mind a leo messi but sometimes with the exclamation marks i feel its a little taken out too farand well mind AVB won the europa league [yeah its different from the CL i know] with a porto squad though consisting of some nice players. it were hardly a one like man citys squad with their tevez's [insert overpaid midfileder who can get in starting team number 3,4,9,11 and 6] and also consider braga did not have much of a team ethier in comparisonbut yeah its annoying how we cant give bertrand and lukaku the CL experience and it will rather be a bit of a sad sight to see em at the reserve matches while our squad is sparring with the valencias leverkusens etc. just feel worse for bertrands casethough hopefully this season will cement the making of mceachran into a fine player and who knows bolton might do the trick for kakuta and we have more good midfieldersJust keep hope guys yeah theres been some undesired options guys. but i wouldnt exactly say this would do damage to a decent to good extent of my faith in AVB....just will make me go o_Oand though kalou aint exactly candy to everyones eyes. we got mata and maybe a few others that could hit form and do more good than well what you guys are thinking the bad of kalou to doand besides still remember about a year ago some of you guys were cheering on kalou. even one of ya guys were gonna get a shirt with his name on it. who says that wont repeat itself/shitter post
manpe 10,861
Leaving out Bertrand from the CL squad and having Ferreira on bench while Ivanovic is also there is fucked up... if I were Ryan, I'd be really pissed. Our youth policy is the best in the world. And he's already 22, and hasn't still got a proper chance and is still being looked over. It pains me to say this but it would be best for him to leave the club if this continues.
BlueLion. 21,491
I agree. Bertrand would be first-choice LB at four or five EPL clubs, ie. Wigan/Wolves et al, right at this moment. He's a quality player.
herohero 0
How to say, that is not good. But we have to face it and find ways to deal with it.Now or never.
