robdog 2,084
Ok people from TalkChelsea, we are in Preseason. Nothing much on the transfer boards yet, so let rap about this. I have spoken to a lot of people about who will have the better career between Messi & Ronaldinho. IMHO Ronnie has shown more for me in both his duties for Club & Country. However I understand that Da Messiah is the the so-call second coming of Diego Maradona. I remember how everyone was clapping w/ Messi used his version of the Hand of God. However after watching Messi trip over his left foot a couple times in the recent Copa America, I can't see how people can view Messi the better balla over Ronnie. Sure Messi is the man at Barca, but after this past Copa America I wonder if its the support from Xavi & Iniesta that helps create this vision. Ronnie has shown pretty much everywhere except @ Milan that he can lead a team. He is currently doing so @ Flamengo, where Fla is undefeated in league play. zolayes 14,489
without going into a lot of details ,,,don't forget how young Messi still is. If he avoids injury I think he will only get better and has a few years yet to reach his peak ,,,That's a scary thought for the opposition. Cosmin 2,484
But don't forget that Messi had the chance to be raised at Barcelona. Ronaldinho is pure class, pure talent, he's doing this for pleasure. Dinho's charismatic and funny and his goals are a lot more spectacular than Messi's. I think Messi is a great player and he works really hard for his achievements and I'm sure he'll get a lot more achievements than Ronaldinho. If you asked me who I like more, I would definitely vote for Ronaldinho, but if it's about their careers, I think Messi's gonna be better. robdog 2,084
Just another thing to consider. Ronnie has won a World Cup, a Copa America & a Confederations Cup. Clearly Ronnie's International career will surpass Messi's.
Henrique 9,133
Even in Brazil there isnt this kind of discussion.Ronaldinho never played that good for Brazilian NT.He had a good WC in 2002, but he was a coadjuvant .When Brazil needed his skills he was a huge flop. You seem to forget that in 2006 he was the best player in the world and he just had a miserable WC.Messi played a superb match against Costa Rica and also played a good match against Uruguay. It seems You did not watch too many games. We also have Peru and Venezuela in the semi-finals of this Copa America...Messi is only 24 years old, and still has at least 2 WC in top of his game. robdog 2,084
Messi played a superb match against Costa Rica and also played a good match against Uruguay.Ah Bevis, Los Ticos are ranked 55th in the World & that was the U23 team. Let's not count that one. The match vs. Uruguay, true Messi had one fantastic play, but was pretty much held in check & Uruguay koed Argentina. Also, what about the World Cup last year??? I will say that Messi is currently enjoying an excellent spell in the Club scene, but we have not seen him dominate on the International level. We have seen Ronnie do this. TomCFC 357
Messi. But in terms of games against Chelsea, Ronaldinho. Messi was invisible when I went to the CL games in 2009 and 2006, but Ronaldinho blew me away in 2005, when he was at the top of his game. Kostas 1,468
As far as natural talent is concerned few could hold a candle to Ronaldinho but Messi has reached a level of quality, consistency and effectiveness Ronnie never did.
True_Blue 469
Trophy wise Messi since Ronaldinho won 2 La Liga's,2 Cups and 1 Champion League.Messi has already won 5 La Liga's,4 cups and 3 UEfa Champions League's + The super Cup and Fifa club World Cup.In addition he is not going anywhere anytime soon so his trophy room will just increase. Not much of a comparison between the two. LDN Blue 7,903
Of course Messi will have a better career. He's received good, disciplined, coaching. While Ronaldinho allowed the money & fame to get to him to ruin his career. Alcohol abuse and constant partying turned him into a lazy, loathed player. What Kostas says is true, Ron was more naturally gifted. It's a real shame he ruined it..
