What will it be then? Most of us want him here but if a big offer comes along I don't think the board will swiftly reject it. I reckon they would consider it while we have a brilliant keeper as it stands.

It will be on whether he'll be number 1 or not. Simple as that.

If José says it's best for the club to have a top-class keeper for another 15 years instead of 5, then that is what will happen. We may get away with 1 year with both of them while Courtois gradually takes the mantle from Cech, which is the best we can hope for. (ala Chech-Cudicini)

However, the decision will have to be made soon and it will be made on the basis of what is best for the club long-term and not based financially reasons. Since when do we need money anyway? If the club say we'll be ok for FFP, then we'll be ok. I'm not worried.

Cech is only 31 and is still playing at an extremely high level. Only Neuer is better for me, would be harsh to just bin a club legend for the youf fanboys.

I'm pretty sure Courtois will be at chelsea next year and will enter into competition with Ceh. The only reason he is not here this year, is the world championship. Courtois is'nt afraid for being benched half a year, he will enter the competition with Ceh. the following transferperiod (winter 2014-2015 or summer 2015) we will have to make decisions.

Where are these mistakes by the way, I need video evidence. Take away his bad form after his head injury and this wouldn't even be a debate. It's ridiculous how underappreciated Cech is..by our fans no less.

To me, there is no choice here. It´s Courtois all the way.

Name the questionable calls, you can't just say something like that without video evidence or something.

You're clearly biased, as with other sports the young player is almost always valued over his senior. So you look for the slightest fault or error to emphasize your point.

I can almost guarantee Courtois has made more errors than Cech over the past 12 months and I'll give you videos of it once you point out Cech's errors.

I thought you would bring up Cechs Champions League performances, besides that he hasn't done much, he has been error prone and sometimes proves to be very weak. I can't forgive him for that Arsenal 5-3 game, one of the worst games from a keeper I've ever seen.

You could have Maldini and Beckenbauer in their prime at centre back and if the keepers dodgy you will still concede. If the keeper isn't good then it will lead to the defense being nervous knowing their is an error in the keeper. Is it any coincidence that Leti have turned into a great defensive side since Courtois has turned up? because they weren't before that when Asenjo was in goal. Chelsea's defense with JT and Ricky in their prime is lauded the same way United with Rio and Vidic in their prime were, but they wouldn't have been half as good without the world class keeper's they had behind them.

We set the record for least goals conceded in a top flight season with 15, then the next season we got the joint 3rd highest i think with only 22 shipped in 38, yet the season after when Cech was injured the previous solid defense turned to jelly when Hilario was behind them, coincidence? i think not.

I agree that Cech is under-rated, even by our own fans, but to put Courtois record down solely to the defense is unfair, very unfair. To answer your question no he is not over-rated, i meet a decent number of Spaniard's when i went to central America (most of them Barca/Madrid fans) and each and every one of them couldn't stop waxing lyrical's when i asked them about how good Courtois is.

Their is the phrase that keeper are only as good as their defense, that is just as applicable the other way round, if not more so.

We have a tough decision next summer, and luckily we have the best manager in the world making it.

You know, we are glad about his spell in Madrid and the fact he is the first choice there, and he has the chance to play in one of the best leagues in the world and win some domestic and european trophies, but unfortunately this might just turn against us at the end of this season and I would not be surprised if Courtois choses to go to Barcelona even though Mourinho will ensure that he'll be a starter here... He has settled very well in Spain, he is happy there, his Spanish is also very good and the most dangerous thing about it is that Barcelona really wants him and I'm sure they will do everything they can to play with his head and turn him against Chelsea.

Since when did Chelsea use release clauses? When has any other Chelsea player been reported to have a release clause? Its just bullshit media reports I reckon, many clubs in Englands don't include such a clause in contracts, its more a continental thing as we've seen in Spain, France, Portugal and Italy in the last 10 years. Plus Chelsea aren't a selling club as well, we've seen that. Bar Robben who was the last good player we sold?
