🇧🇪 Thibaut Courtois

the defence literally invited marcelo until the top of the box. asking him to shoot which he did well. powerful shot, low and going towards the corner. if GC had done what miranda had done last night, people would have ripped him apart. but since doubting TC seems to be the more controversial thing (since DL has been sold and not much controversy can be created regarding our CBs), the member now ends up saying rubbish things like HOWLER for the 3rd goal. do they even know what howler means. i can understand someone saying "it was stoppable" but LOL at howler.

DailyMail running a story that the club have made up their mind, telling Courtois to sign a new contract and promised he will be starter in 2015-16 season. I hope not as this means he will sign with Atletico for another year, then he will get too attached to them emotionally. He has already show signs of that by saying things like he got 'no emotional attachment to Chelsea', 'will not be benched for Cech'...etc. I hope PSG come in and bid 15-20m for Cech as that would be the perfect scenario.

The goal was certainly not a howler, but it was a mistake nonetheless. It was the wrong save selection from Courtois. I am an FA accredited goalkeeper coach looking to begin my UEFA licences, and if any of my academy players attempted to make a low diving step save for that sort of shot, I'd make them sit out for the rest of the session. There was absolutely no footwork involved in the execution of the save, which meant he couldn't get down quick enough. It should have been a simple case of a few sidesteps and a low collapse, rather than a step save. The ball was hit too firmly and too close to his body for his arm to get down quickly enough with the type of save he tried to pull off.

Agreed. I was saying the exact same thing - he saves that easily if he moved his feet. It's an easy save that way and he still gives Atletico some sort of hope for the rest of extra time.

I understand there is an element of surprise and he is let down by how easily Marcelo is allowed to roam between a number of defenders, but as you say, if he was on his toes he takes three-four sidesteps and can either perform the k-barrier save or a collapse.

Shame he couldn't leave on a proper high note but he's had an astounding time in Madrid and hopefully he'll come back and challenge for the shirt. We can win the league with Cech as our goalkeeper but it would be nice to have our best players in the squad next season.

Atletico were broken mentally, that save lacked so much convinction. Definitely a mistake by Courtois but the match was already lost.

Technically they were still in it yes but it was just never gonna happen. I don't think I've ever seen a player allowed to just stroll towards goal in a match, let alone the CL Final..

Don't know if its true. He said to Atletico board he want to stay. Other newspaper said he want a permanent move.

Only if he want to force the permanent move, then I don't mind we sell him, maybe Costa + Koke + Luis would do. And also we could throw Torres as an addition to the deal.

Like they could afford the money for Courtois. Dream on.

Spuds ask 30 millions for Lloris. If Luiz worth 50 millions, I am sure Courtois worth around that too.

I'm trying to be sarcastic there with Costa + Koke + Luis. No way they would let their three important player leave at the same time. My point is that Atletico could not afford the money to buy Courtois.

You're way off. Keepers just don't cost that much. Lloris was a young and proven keeper and cost 10M Euros in 2012. If he were a striker of similar age//ability/experience, he would have cost at least triple that. Mignolet is a solid keeper cost 9M pounds last year. Keepers are just not expensive. (And Luiz is not worth 50M PSG just has their own economy where they spent about 75% more than anyone else would, Look at their transfer history. They are reckless idiots. Even worse than we were at the beginning of the Roman Era.

Also you need to take into account contract length, demand...etc. It is not like Barcelona, Bayern, Real, MU, City...etc all line up for Courtois or something. He also only got 2 years left, Neuer costs 25m 3 years ago, Courtois should be the same because Neuer is still a better GK atm. For Luiz Barva and Bayern was willing to pay 30-35m so PSG upping it by 10m is really not that extraordinary as people are making out to be.

If we get any where over 30m for Courtois we would be laughing all the way to the bank.
