Tomo 21,751
Am i the only one delighted with Liverpool's transfer activity this summer? In January when they signed Suarez and got £50m for Torres from us i was worried Queen Cashback would use the money to re-build and bring in a decent team but infact it has been quite the opposite, £35m on Carroll, £20m on Henderson, £7m on Adam and possible even another £20m on Downing, so that's £82m on players that are mid table standard at best, maybe we should slap a £30m price tag on Turnbull see if their intrested This could be there team next season--------------------------Reina-----------------------Johnson--Carragher------Skrtel-------Aurelio-----------Lucas----------Adam/Henderson-------------------------------Gerrard--------------------Downing------------------------------------Suarez---------------------------Carroll---------------------Apart from Suarez is there any-one in that team you look at and think shit there good?Gerrard maybe a few years ago but not any more plus he has never really done it in the big games especially against us, Lucas is good but not top standard and Henderson made Micheal Mancienne look like Xavi in the euro's. Carragher's a good defender but 33, Skrtel is a donkey and Aurellio aint that much better. Johnson's defending is even worse than Bosingwa and if he was any good he would still be with us. Reina is a class goallie but as the last couple of years proved there is only so much he can do. Im starting to think we should have kept Joe Cole for one last season and tried to get them to spend £20m on Joe Henderson, Carroll and Adam are good(ish) but have shown nothing to suggest that they could become anywhere near world class and Liverpool for me have done nothing to suggest they are going to be title challengers anytime soon, if they could not win it with Alonso, Mascerano and Torres what makes any-one think they will do it with Henderson, Adam and Carroll i do not know but one thing i do know is that they are no threat in terms of the title and before any-one says Dalglish his win record since returning is 47% (7% worse than Scolari's with us in similar time) and the fact Pool fans are heralding his stint as a heroe act just goes to show how far the've fallen. dave30 728
They have a steady team of good ( not great ) players . i expect them to be Champions league team this year and build as a strong unit with some fantastic English talent . but i agree and I think they need a marque sighing or two such as sergio aguero to really take them to a higher level . coolhead23 1,147
For me Liverpool is the dark horse for the title next season. I think Danglish has been smart in his signings so far, very shrewd. Their midfield is almost set now they would go and built their defense. U dont need stars to be champions u need a TEAM and that what Danglish is building. I found him an excellent man manager and he is not afraid to take risk. So next season i wouldnt be surprised if they are doing great in the league. Every if they dont win the league they would surely take Arsanal's 4th spot.
Laylabelle 9,535
Bit hmmm to be honest cause they're scummy and just when you get ready to be hahaha when their results go shit up they pop and catch up!1 Though last season I thought Joe Cole turn them into a class team...was wrong about that! LDN Blue 7,903
They're building a very good team, but like dave30 said, they do need a few world class talent. I don't believe they'll get one to be honest after Henry what'shisface said no finished products. Don't think they're title contenders per se but they're doing well to build for the future. With the exceptions of Reina and perhaps Suarez, there isn't much of substance. Frankly, Liverpool are an older and more limited Arsanal. They won't win anything this year. They might slip into a CL spot, but that would depend on outside factors. I understand the sentiment of the English fans here - they want the kids to emerge as world-class players so the Three Lions can finally meet their expectations. The reality is, they aren't there yet and they may never get there.
Guest justin_3d
Liverpool got a good team as Sunderland got a good team.Yet that does not means they will earn a top 4.Liverpool will have it easy of course if Spurs and Arsanal get weaker. But seriously, Sunderland are also going to be tougher team.
teignman 441
At present, as mentioned, a fair to middling squad. However, if their younger acquisitions realize their potential, they have the potential to rise high in the table.
Term-X 7,891
The hype and potential for those young English players becoming a threat has been fabricated by their own fans, which trickles down. Steve Clarke, the new owners and everything that comes with that, may well secure a top 4 spot (eventually). Especially if Arsanal lose those reported key players. Wilson 358
In fairness to Liverpool, they realised there team was falling apart and they realised they had to sign and spend, which is what we need to do.
BlueLion. 21,491
Don't underestimate Liverpool, especially under Dalglish and now Gerrard and Reina are back to full fitness. They will finish top four this season.
