Chelsea Sack Andre Villas-Boas

The problem with dropping out of the CL places is that we will not be able to get players like Hazard, Falcao, Moura, etc next season. Hot young talent will follow established managers/coaches like Mourinho as they did from Bayern Munich when he took over at Real Madrid. They will not come to Chelsea to be hood ornaments in part of a three-season rebuilding exercise. Frankly, Man City or Man U are better bet in the transfer market because even though they'll also be outside the CL next season they do have managers with better results in the EPL. It's a business, for brand-name players as well as for brand name clubs. Abramovich will surely be aware of this and be monitoring Chelsea's decline as a commercial asset this season in the European and global sports market. He's a shrewd, tough business entrepreneur with a passion for football and CFC, a logical choice with the right manager given its prime value in maybe the world's richest area of real estate. Now that we're out if the top 4 EPL places I believe he will use our CL matches against Napoli to weight up his next move. Abramovich is the youngest multi-billionaire in what's probably the most formidable industrial sectors of all - the East European oil market. He's a survivor with a powerful structure of business support. Major changes will surely come in the off-season but meanwhile I suspect he is already discussing his options with advisers like Mourinho, Hiddink and super agent Pini Zahavi. Point being - whatever is happening with Chelsea on the field right now is yesterday's news as far as deciding what's going to happen at boardroom and player level at the end of this season. That's my take on it anyway, and as we all know nothing ever leaks from our owner's inner circle until he's ready.

Total misconception.

Exactly. Falcao moved from Porto (CL Qualified) to Athletico.

Chelsea is an establish team, and most player understand if a team fails one season to get in. Happen to Bayern and other team.

It's a problem if it happens for more then one season!

Money talks yes, but Hazard specifically for example has outlined his goals. For me it's simple out of us or Arsenal whoever finishes in the top 4 will probably get him. The UCL is a BIG BIG attraction point, it may not be a sole factor but it can be decisive.

I don't blame AVB. The squad is poor, he has made some mistakes but he doesn't deserve all the blame nor does he deserve to lose his job.

You know shit's getting real when Styles comes back to TalkChelsea! Welcome back mate :D

Silva, Tevez, Toure and others. No CL for City but yet still believe in the "project"

Hazard agent said if Chelsea is willing to build a project again he will be interested.

One season of not being in CL will not hurt him.

Next season he will be there with a good team and getting good wages.

The problems at chelsea currently run deeper than the manager its been a stagnation of the playing squad thats built up over a number of years and has only recently been started to be addressed, now whilst avb has made some mistakes during his tenure with us not everything can be laid at his feet, and anybody that does is incredibly narrow minded imho, as fans we have been calling out for a proper freshening up of the squad for how long now? an artist is only as good as his materials, picasso would struggle to make a master piece out of a picture if he had to use crayola crayons.

The problem is the players or more to the point a certain handful in key positions, cech has been shaky more so than a long time, our rightback position is an issue and has for a while, our left back position on ashleys current form is becoming an issue, our central midfield has zero creativity and fails to get the ball moving fast enough and our star striker we shelled out 50m for cant score!

Im not trying to make excuses for avb as he has to take some share of the blame, he loaned out josh without giving him a fair crack of the whip when he was someone who potentially could bring some much needed invention and quick play to our midfield three, he hasnt given bertrand a chance instead preffering to stick someone out of position out left, he should of in the summer said to the board our attacking options on the wing are not good enough and seemingly panders to the players wants in regards to dropping the high line high tempo football (at least if we lost we were bloody entertaining).

What the major problem is, is that the board have only recently (last 2-3 windows) began refreshing our squad ie: Ramires Luiz Torres Mata Meirieles Romeu Cahill, now hopefully they are gonna keep this up as whilst its taken them ages to start doing it besides torres they have all worked/able to contribute in a positive manner if even only as a squad player.

This summer coming will be a big changer if the out of contract players all as it seems leave (drogs kalou malouda bosingwa hilario) as that will leave a gapping hole in the squad that needs filling with better quality than that leaving (other than didi easily achievable) the main thing is avb gets us to top 4 and back in the champions league for next year if he does that than im happy, when we are bad we are bloody bad but when we have been good (even in defeat sometimes) we have been very good, for what is a squad in transition I dont think avb is doing that bad not great either but I sincerly believe that when (if given enough time) it all comes together it will be a very good team capable of challenging on all fronts with style and thats what the owner wants.

Anyone who thought we'd win the league this year or would even finish 2nd is deluded, my expectations were always to finish top 4 ideally third whilst we regrouped and rebuilt as man city look to have raised the bar (watch them go on a run once yaya toure is back) something which we done in 2004/05 and look at how ferguson at united reacted over the following few years, thats the prototype we need to follow to get back to the top.

If we finish below 4th I can't see him staying. This squad is poor really but it has the quality to be in the top 4.

If we do finish below 4th, i would rather him stay, mainly because if we get a new manager the old players will probably get another season.

Last season at this stage we were poor, so we cant just blame the manager, we need new players, young, talented players who care.

We have so many problems with our squad, Defence prone to making errors, midfield not creative enough ( yesterday as an example, mostly side passes and/or backward passes) our wingers are not wingers... Mata should be CAM, Sturridge is a striker, at first i liked his new position (rw) but as off late, he's been so ineffective in games.

Our strikers are not scoring/ playing well. Torres has been abysmal, and even though Drogba offers more he hasn't been playing much better.

If we do get a new manager, i doubt we're going to get the overhaul we all want/need, a few new additions, but i doubt many will be leaving.

If we keep AVB, i think we will get an overhaul, he keeps mentioning 'next years plan', and that's what we desperately need.

Sorry but the players are blatantly sabotaging AVB. They are doing the same what they did to Scolari. If AVB gets sacked, then they will have won yet again. Simple as that. I bet they are wanking at the image of Mourinho already, the moment they heard he might come back to England.

That's why I said its not the sole factor, because like I said money talks. I mean it did for them along with the project. However you can't deny its a decisive factor which many top players require. I mean look at Liverpool, a club with history also building a project so to speak isn't exactly attracting the best players. Money is a hugely decisive, but the UCL can make a difference. A top club needs Champions league football, for the prestige, money and the mere reason that every player wants to be playing at the very top level. If City didn't qualify for the UCL last season I can bet you some of their players would of left.

And that's why Torres left.

Because he can accept one season with no CL. Two or three seasons with little money spending is no good.

If he saw Liverpool spending well and buying good players then he would have stayed.

That won't be the case for Chelsea. Well it should not as they are already talking about next season project.

Indeed. Most of the youngsters may compromise for one season, but nevertheless you want to see Chelsea fighting at the very top level. The Europa league is just a joke and I don't want to see us on channel 5 competing with Stoke. :mouthclosed:

Like I said it happens to big team.

Has happen to Bayern, but because they are an establish club that players know they will continue challenging for tittle in coming season.

Take a look at Juventus rise. They have been out, but they started spending and spending wisely on players. Now are contenders for the Serie and back to CL.

So if Chelsea fails to get CL this season will it kill us? No, it will be bad in terms of money wise, but it might be a good shake up to think deep about what our board and Roman wants to do.

Because spending so much money and firing manager every season has not work for the past half decade. A new approach must be attempt.

This thread is littered with contradictions. Supporting AVB.. yet pointing out his 'many' tactical faults/naivety, backing stability for the sake of stability.

If Jose’ is genuinely serious about 'finally' settling down for the long haul, Roman needs to swallow his pride and reinstate the special one. I dread to think what will happen If he ends up at United, City or Spurs, and stays there for 10-20 years.
