This is a smart buy if we can get him, not only in terms of what he can offer but also what he can do for the younger blood in the team that potentially want that position in years to come. The fee is expected to be around the 10-12M mark, which for a top notch midfielder of his calibre it is very, very good business all told. Remember the amount of games we could face again, his age won't allow him every game, but what it will do is allow how to either sit tight to fetch on or start and give us a solid base from the kick off. This signing excites me as much as a huge money buy, he's that good. The possibilities are endless with this bloke and by god would it give us more depth.

I can't think of a better fit for him than here myself. Apparently Jose rates him hugely, the London factor, will get a shot as a striker as well as being probably played just off the striker and err well he would be part of the best club in the world.

Nobody is saying Lukaku won't score goals but once again you are going off track from your original points. You spoke of that we don't need players like Ibra and Rooney and said youngsters are the way forward. Youngsters are the way forward but not out and out for a starting eleven that needs the mix of youth and also experience. Players like Rooney and Ibra would improve any team in the world, and at the same time bring in added experience, and you can never have enough experience. On your other points, Ba worries me, I think he is decidedly average and whilst he covered a gap last January he simply isn't good enough and we should ship him out now and bring in a top striker. Torres, well, you can't polish a turd. He picked up his form back end of the season but he has been more like a £50 signing than a £50M signing and he's another one I wouldn't lose sleep over if he was sold, we lose an average player and astronomical wages. This window we need a top quality striker and a midfield anchor man like De Rossi, couple that with Van Ginkel, KDB and Schurlle and we are good to go. Rooney would be such a good edition, he can play up top and midfield whilst also working his knackers off constantly. Just because in the past you or anyone may of called him a fat scouser or a granny shagger just put your own egos to one side and look at what a player like him can offer, he would be a brilliant purchase. Wait, so you are saying that you know for a fact that Lukaku, KDB, Van Ginkel and others young lads will all be a complete success and hit the ground running and should start immediately? If yes, that's a very naive and short sighted view. These players need drip feeding into the side if they are to be allowed to remain, pre-season will give Jose and us a real good look at who is ready and who maybe sent on loan.

Because amongst the young talent you also need experienced players who have been there and done it. Whether it is Rooney or Zlatan you cannot just have all these young kids in the team.

What a completely MEH signing from City if they get Negredo, I mean he is alright but for me the have better in Dzeko.
